MU makes Hogs eat their words
Stupid pigs.
http://www.kansascity.com/sports/v-p...ry/426807.html By RYAN YOUNG The Kansas City Star DALLAS | The feeling of vindication set in after Missouri’s thorough victory over Arkansas. After running back Tony Temple made the Razorbacks witnesses to a record-setting day. After the Tigers all but shut down a prolific Hogs offense. And with senior tight end Martin Rucker, it came with a hint of a smile. “They said that we weren’t good enough just because we were from the Big 12,” Rucker said. “I’m kind of glad that they said that because it fired a lot of guys up.” With a commanding 38-7 Cotton Bowl win Tuesday, at least a couple of Missouri players felt the Tigers had shown Southeastern Conference foe Arkansas a thing or two about Big 12 football. Quarterback Chase Daniel reiterated that certain Razorback comments published in an Arkansas newspaper last week were taken as “disrespectful” by the Tigers. Arkansas safety Matt Hewitt was quoted in the Northwest Arkansas Times as saying that Missouri was “going to get a rude awakening Jan. 1 because they’re going to see the press man and a lot of blitz schemes coming after them. They forget they’re going against an SEC team.” Daniel said after the victory, “It just shows that the Big 12 has some power to it, too.” Overblown or not, the Tigers had their motivation and put it to work. Temple set Cotton Bowl rushing records with 281 yards and four touchdowns. And the Missouri defense held Arkansas, which came in averaging just under 40 points per game, to a lone touchdown — only the second time all season the team didn’t score at least 13 points. Several Razorbacks said afterward that Missouri was a little stronger in certain areas than they may have expected. “They’re a good team; we knew that coming in,” Arkansas center Jonathan Luigs said. “They were definitely better in person than I thought they were going to be on film.” Arkansas fullback Peyton Hillis concurred with his teammate. “We kind of overlooked them a little bit, I guess, and it came (back) to bite us in the butt,” he said. “We thought our speed would help us out a whole lot, but they were real physical and got on us today.” Mostly, though, the postgame reaction among the Razorbacks wasn’t so much that the Tigers surprised them, but that they surprised themselves. “Missouri played extremely well today, and we probably did about everything we could do to help them. Not to take anything away from them,” Arkansas interim head coach Reggie Herring said. “… To be honest with you, I’m a little bit blindsided by the way we played.” |
Arkansas idiots. Why can't football players learn not to smack talk to the press.

Hogs will eat anything.

They forgot they were going against a Big 12 team LMAO
Someone made a good point, that Colorado was the only team that tried to employ man coverage extensively against Mizzou this year, and they got hammered. Basically the same thing happened today, the game wasn't as close as the score was. |
I don't get the whole speed argument for the SEC. They recruit fast guys but so does every school now.

yawn..
Mizzou was favored, were they not? The majority of the country expected Mizzou to win. Just some dumb comments from Arky players. I can understand all the SEC hate just like all the Patriots-Cowboys hate, but even with Florida's screwup the SEC is sitting pretty at 6-2 in bowl games and another National Championship in sight. |

You put OU or MU in that bowl game and it would be a big 12 championship. |

By the way, the SEC is the best conference in the land. But SEC loyalists can’t have it both ways. If you read the message boards, there’s already an effort underway to discredit the Mizzou win. The spin: Arkansas isn’t good. Arkansas was supposed to lose. Arkansas isn’t an SEC power. Mizzou did what any decent team would do. We’re not impressed. OK, if Arkansas is so bad, if Arkansas is one of the Twinkies of the SEC, then how did Arkansas beat No. 1 LSU at LSU? Look, I have no problem with SEC fans bragging about their conference. It’s awesome. But Mizzou dominated an SEC team, and Mizzou gets credit for that. Mizzou didn’t pick the opponent; this was the matchup presented to the Tigers. And Mizzou whupped Arkansas in every phase. End of story. SEC fans can’t be touting Arkansas as an example of the SEC’s formidable depth before the game, then discredit Mizzou by acting like Arkansas is the conference doormat after Mizzou’s thumping. Again: you can’t have it both ways. You can’t brag about Arkansas for beating LSU, then pretend that Arkansas is some unworthy SEC wimp after Mizzou wins by 31. |

I have no doubt that this Mizzou team could compete with the SEC top tier. |

Ark won @ LSU this year, granted they had a head coach back then.
