It's a Girl

So as many of you know, the wife and I are expecting our first child.
Last week we had our first ultrasound, and for a while we were trying to decide if we were going to find out the sex of the baby or not. We decided several weeks ago that we were going to have the tech write it down on an envelope, and for Mother's Day, with the whole family around, open it in front of everyone so the whole family could share in the suprise.

We opened it yesterday and found out we will be having a baby girl.

Madison Jane (Maddie)

(James Madison, MIL's middle name)

So we are excited, but still in a little bit of shock. It's one more step toward this whole thing being very real. I was wanting a boy, but obviously am ecstatic either way, and am in love with the idea of having a little girl.

But, also, there are (to me) infinite more fears that go along with having a girl that I will have to work through. It's exciting, though, and I can't wait for the challenge of living up to some of the role models my wife and I have as far as raising children.

Congrats, Sully! Strange time of life right now, isn't it? It's like time is dragging by ever so slowly, then you look up, and it's time for the baby to be here. How is Jilly handling pregnancy?

I'll let you borrow my twelve year old, just so you can get the full view of what's in store for you down the road. :doh!:

Congratulations!

I have two girls and, yes, there are a lot more worries I have with them than I'd have with boys. But I wouldn't have it any other way now. She'll hold a special place in your heart.

Jilly is doing great. After the first trimester was finished, she stopped feeling bad and has been doing a great job growing a person. Time does seem to be dragging so damn slow. I assume that once September rolls around I won't feel the same way, though.

We are just praying that Maddie doesn't have red hair like her mother!!!

Girls are easier, dude. You'll get through it just fine.

Cool "reveal" idea though.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy, birthing, raising, and footing of the bills, Sully!

It's weird; the time distortion thing keeps rolling. The hours, days, and months feel like forever, then you'll blink, and all of a sudden, you're dropping her off for her first day of kindergarten. Be sure to enjoy every second of it along the way.

Congrats. Good luck

I wonder why so many people are having girls these days.

I'd say at least 80% of the people I know who have kids have had girls.

Congrats Sully!!.....and Jilly!!!!

We have 4 children, but our first baby girl just turned 8 months old.

Strangely, she is more relaxed than the boys were, even though I'm sure when she gets older she'll be crazy just like every other woman.

Congrats again!

Are you counting us too? I have 4 of the critters. You might say there's a penis shortage at my house.

You're welcome to whomever runs with that one.
