Does Will Smith get EVERY July 4th weekend release?

Hancock coming out July 2nd... the black superman. Looks interesting.

Hancock looks hilarious. And yes, Will Smith actually puts people in the seats unlike his goofy friend Tom Cruise.

Umm....Cruise had a nice 25 year run. Id say thats alot more than most movie stars.

I'm looking forward to it, looks like a good alternative to regular superhero fare.

Hopefully it doesn't take itself too seriously, and all the good scenes weren't shown in the last trailer.

Yea, i hate it when they show you the whole movie in the trailer. The trailer to this i fear is basically the whole movie.

Dude has superpowers, but doesnt care and just wants to get drunk instead. Some people try to help him with his image, but he rejects that and gets thrown in jail. He slowly grows and changes do to the love of friends and a good woman. The last act he changes gears and becomes the full blown superhero he was destined to be. Lost of things go boom with tons of CGI as he brings down the bad guy trying to destroy the city.

It looks decent though.

It looks to me like they tell him to go to jail to help with his image.

The 'his head up your ass' scene is one of my favorites so far. ROFL

Guess this means Karate Kid in July 2009. I don't plan on seeing it.

Really not interested in Hancock either but my son is hounding me to see it.

Not to be picky, but don't you almost always know how a movie is going to go before you see it..at least in a roundabout way? It's not like it's any surprise when the hero goes through some journey to come out on top.

Independence Day

MIB

MIB II

I am Legend.

What other movies of Will Smith was a July 4th release?

DaneMcCloud 05-30-2008 01:46 AM

Will Smith is the closest thing to a "Sure Bet" in Hollywood.

He's arguably the biggest star in film today and he generally chooses "safe" roles ("Ali" notwithstanding).

He's probably the most "likable" movie star around. No drugs, no drunken driving, no arrests, no non-sense, good family man, etc.

He's the guy everyone wants to see win.

Memorial Day is taken by the HUGE summer blockbusters.

July 4th is the runner-up. Not as much pressure to perform but it's a 3-4 day weekend.

I'm really disappointed with the recent stories of reshoots to get that ever so commercially important PG-13. I am significantly less intrigued.

Last time they reshot a Will Smith movie, it sucked massively. That movie was, of course, I am Legend.
