How is K-Fed not number 1 ?

kcxiv 06-13-2008 06:04 PM

Master P's early records with "The Ghetto's trying to kill me and his first TRU album were ****ing badass. I still have them. 1992 and 1993 releases. After he got big, he sucked, but he has some classic that will forever be in my library no doubt.

I would like to say that I whole-heartedly disagree with the inclusion of Mr. Will Smith. Summertime is one of the greatest tracks ever. Is he on the level of Outkast or the Sugar Hill Gang? No. But he sure as hell isn't on the level of Vanilla Ice and Shaquille.

Edit- wow, didn't even see 2 Live Crew. You can what you want about their lyrics, but their beats defined that "Miami bass sound."

I'm not sure I can speak to the rap rankings, but calling Body Count "rap-metal" means he's a f'in idiot.

At least we know this much...

My favorite thing about this list is that the author himself looks like a shitty indie rapper.

What's worse is that you can easily argue that more than half of that list is wrong even though most of those rappers are usually indefensible.

Summer Madness was WAYYYY better.

No need to rank them... they are all bad.

ChiefsFanatic 06-13-2008 06:23 PM

I will say this, anyone who has listened to some full albums from Will Smith will know that he can string words together like crazy. he and Eminem are so good at just reeling words off so quickly it almost makes it impossible to sing along. I might be square, but I like Will Smith as a rapper. I do not enjoy gangsta rap at all.

The stuff i listened to was about how life actually is if you grow up in the "hood" or whatever. The rap they all have out now, isnt even about that anymore. I dont know wtf they rap about, having ****ing gold ****ing teeth or something. I dont only like rap though. I listen to prog rock/metal/rock whatever. Just no speed or death metal. Hardest i will go is Pantera.

Yeah, what defines a good rapper versus a bad rapper? Are the bad ones not able to read or something? Rating rappers is like rating the voice on the elevator that tells blind people what floor they're on.

I doubt you actually want an answer, but the main things that separate the good from the bad are wordplay and delivery.
