"New" beers available from Boulevard.

These are new to me and new to my area so I thought I would give 'em a try. They come in large wine-bottles that are 22oz. The one called "The Sixth Glass" is awesome. It's a belgian quadruple ale. There is a whole series of these beers and they all look like they are pretty good. "Long Strange Tripel" is next on the menu. Anyone tried these yet?

tried the new cork bottled IPA, don't remember what it was called but wasn't anything too special IMO and was $8

I heard the same thing about the IPA, the ones I bought are supposed to be the "highest rated" ones.

Busted open the "Long Strange Tripel" and it is very good, very stout (alcohol) but quite smooth and drinkable. I prefer New Belgium's Tripel Ale but this was comparable but not really worth the higher price.

I like the really hoppy IPA's like dogfish, lost coast brewery's indica pale ale and those types of IPA's that smell like a ton of hops or kind of like a pine tree from a mile away. The boulevard IPA didn't taste like an IPA, wasn't a bad beer, just doesn't seem to fit the IPA style, more like their regular pale ale with more alcohol, no extra hops, and extra head on the glass, and for $8 you can get a 6 pack of something better.

I might give one of other ones a try, I came close to buying the 'sixth glass' but I'm not sure I'm a fan of the style, everything talks about how great the Belgian beer Chimay is but it tastes more like plum wine than beer to me.

IPA's are an aquired taste either way IMO. As for the quad/"sixth glass"...it's easily in my top 3 favorites all time now. No joke.

So, this beer is supposed to be chilled? I was gifted a bottle last night and I wasn't sure.

Belgium-style are usually lightly chilled to room temp, I think...

Yes for sure. I put it in the fridge for a few hours and then even put it up in the freezer for about 30 minutes just before we drank it. Yummy.

This is very true for other Belgian ales I have had before but this stuff was great ice-cold. It's good enough it won't matter much, IMO.
