PS3 vs. XBOX 360
I'm thinking about buying one of these systems, but am not sure which one to buy.
My last system was a PS2, but backwards compatibility isn't an issue for me. Also, I don't think I care much about Blu-Ray. I'm mostly in to sports games...Madden, etc. Also, I'm interested in online gaming. Given all of that, what's my best option? |
Tough call. 360 has the better game library, PS3 is much more reliable.
I love my 360, but if I had to choose right now, I'd probably go with the PS3. Microsoft is standing behind the 360, but it's still a pain in the butt to send one in when it breaks. I assume the PS3 will catch up eventually as far as games go. The Blu-ray player would probably sway me in favor of Sony. |
If you don't care about blueray - 360 is your obvious choice.

So the XBOX 360's online stuff is better than PS3's?

As far as sports games, both systems will have basically the same games, but in what I've read, the games typically get slightly better reviews on 360, or at worst the same review as PS3. The games just seem to run better on the 360 at this time. |
If online play, selection are big for you and Blu-Ray is not... 360 is the winner by a landslide.
And while the 360s do have the ring of death thing, it was pretty easy to get it repaired for me. I called and had a coffin in three days, had a new/repaired 360 in 8 more days. |
Based on your criteria the 360 is the easy choice IMO. Deep library of games and the online experience is second to none.
Also if you do decide to buy a 360 you might wait a couple of weeks and see if the rumored price drop happens. |

I'm glad i don't have this problem since gaming isn't as important to me as it used to be...
but i got an XBOX360(friend gave it to me), Wii(for the gf), and PS3(my bluray)... If you want more games, XBOX360 is the way to go, but i do think PS3 will catchup soon. |
