Royals trade reliever to White Sox
http://www.kansascity.com/385/story/741258.html
The Royals traded right-handed reliever Horacio Ramirez to the White Sox after Saturday night’s 7-3 loss to the Twins. In exchange for Ramirez, the Royals received minor-league outfielder Paulo Orlando. Orlando will be assigned to the Royals’ Class A team in Wilmington, Del. To replace Ramirez, the Royals will recall left-handed reliever Josh Newman from Class AAA Omaha. |
Huh, I thought he had starter potential and he is a lefty if I'm not mistaken.
|
Horacio had already flamed out with the Braves and Mariners, so I don't know how successful he'll be in his third go round. I don't think we got much for him, but who knows.
|
We got a 22 year old A ball player for him. Nothing worthwhile.

Orlando, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound center fielder from Sao Paulo, Brazil, will be assigned to the Class A Wilmington roster. He was hitting .264 with 15 doubles, 12 triples, nine homers, 42 RBIs and 73 runs scored. Orlando, who was 28-of-37 in stolen bases, entered the 2008 season ranked by Baseball America as the fastest baserunner and best defensive outfielder in the White Sox organization.
Not a terrible return for a a guy that was on his third team. Ramirez only has success with the Royals as we used him in relief. As a starter he had failed with two teams. This also gives a chance to a young lefty to come up and see what he can do. |
This confuses me so badly. I thought the trade deadline passed about 2 weeks ago.

File this one under: Trades that dont matter one bit

Looks like a decent A ball pickup, not bad #'s...
Ramirez was doing decent for us, but its right his track record sucks pretty much so its worth a shot |

That actually might end up looking like a pretty good trade in 3-4 years.
