Observations On My First Observed Game This Year.

1. Oh, my god. It's worse than I thought.

2. Our running backs are actually pretty good. Charles catches like the Venus de Milo, but at the same time Thigpen was showing no touch at all. I have no idea if our fullback played or not - never saw him except in the huddle.

3. Thigpen is not accurate, and he panics. Give him two more games, and if he doesn't improve radically, bring back Huard to help develop our young players who have a future.

4. The attitude on the team is horrific. Every player knows that they have no chance to win with Herm Edwards as coach, and they were all dejected by the first quarter. It's not a rebuilding effort unless the coaches are making the players better, and they're not.

5. Albert was having some trouble with the speed rushes, but otherwise seemed like a keeper. Makes me wonder if he's got a long-term future at left tackle, though.

6. Devard Darling wasn't trying very hard to tackle on one of those interceptions. Receivers in Herm's offense need to learn to tackle well.

7. That missed field goal was brutal.

8. Look up the definition of the term MVP, and tell me why Dustin Colquitt shouldn't be a leading contender for NFL MVP this year.

9. Why does B.J. Sams take fair catches inside the ten? Do we have a special teams coach, or is it just another friend of Carl/Herm who doesn't have a clue?

10. Our rookie corners seemed to play better than our veteran safeties.

11. Pat Thomas is not an NFL linebacker. He's definitely not a starting NFL middle linebacker.

12. Tank looks like our best lineman at the moment. He was very active and disruptive. I think Dorsey will be good, but he's just a lost rookie at the moment, and McBride was making more noise than Hali at the end spots. I think the first touchdown was against a backup defensive line, though it was hard for me to see numbers.

13. I was at a sports bar, and some dude told the female bartender (who was about a 5.5, and thus way out of his league), "My only complaint today is that I didn't wake up next to you this morning." About two seconds later, the guy's girlfriend walked up and hugged him. I was tempted to tell her. She was out of his league, too. It was interesting to me because I thought boorishness like that was just on bad TV. I didn't think anyone in real life would say something like that.

14. I feel really bad for Tony G. and Donnie and Brian Waters. They deserve better.

Generally, that's the reaction of people watching for the first time.

Great post. Agree on all points football. You can only wonder if Clark Hunt is thinking along these lines. I certainly hope so.

I agree with most points. I was at the game and here are my .02.

1. WTF are you kicking a FG for down 17 in the 4th quarter, when your defense has not stopped the other team all day?

2. Dorsey was pretty damn impressive. He was being double-teamed on about 60% of the plays today. For a rookie to draw 2 on that many plays is pretty impressive.

3. This is the worst team in the NFL. Period.

I agree on most counts but our FB was pretty good, I thought. He made several key blocks and led LJ on all his long gainers.

I bought a ticket before the season started to the Chiefs/Panthers game...
I am regretting that decision.

If you buy a new car running yourself over with it is optional.

I could have told you all that, Mr. Rain Man. And, I didn't even watch the game.

If you are a Panthers fan, it should be most enjoyable.

What really hurt, was having to listen to Gus Johnson go nuts on every run. He should stick to March Madness...

I paid for Sunday Ticket and could only bear to watch about half the game. Pretty much wasted my $$$ this season.

I can't really give a good opinion on today's game. I started feeling ill early in the 1st quarter. I called the doctor and he ordered me to stop watching the Chiefs and he was right. I started feeling much better after I quit watching them.

This team lacks Heart, Leadership and Talent-besides that-they are not too bad.

harpes 09-21-2008 05:43 PM

I've got tickets for a couple of games but i hate to drive 5 hours to get our rears handed to us. I think I will try and and find tha 5.5 bartender instead.
