Life on Mars
Didn't see a dedicated thread but I'm catching up via downloads and I have to say this is one of the better shows on right now. Acting is superb. I really dig the lead.
And I dig the premise. |
I think it's off to a decent start, and the premise is enough to draw me in for a while on its own.
I'm just glad I never saw the British version, because I want to see this fresh. |

I really like it, mainly because of Harvey Keitel and Michael Imperioli (God his character is a weasely-little doofus LMAO ). Nice touches with the hints of 2008 (reflection in the squad room glass, little robot, etc.).
I get the feeling that No-Nuts is starting to believe his story just a bit, whether she admits it to herself or not. Seems like a logical progression of their relationship that he'll eventually dead-on predict something that happens and she'll realize that he isn't crazy. |
just caught up to the 2nd ep last night. It was a little cheesier than the first episode, so hopefully that trend doesn't continue.
I liked it, but not as well as the pilot. |
Cancelled.....if there were any fans left of this??
http://www.variety.com/article/VR111...goryid=14&cs=1 There won't be "Life on Mars" much longer. ABC has decided to end the show after a single year -- but in an unusual move, the net will keep the show on the air through the end of its full run. That will give the series a rare opportunity to sign off with a proper finale, wrapping up the series' core mystery. Network insiders said they were fans of the show and pleased with its creative chops -- but that the ratings ultimately didn't warrant a second season. The most recent seg of "Life on Mars" averaged just a 2.0 rating/5 share among adults 18-49, as well as 5.5 million viewers. Five more episodes of "Life on Mars" remain out of the series' 17-episode order. As previously announced, the show's Wednesday 10 p.m. slot will go to newcomer "The Unusuals" in April. Based on the BBC series of the same name, "Life on Mars" centers on a cop who suddenly, mysteriously finds himself transported back to the 1970s, where the rules are dramatically different. Twentieth Century Fox TV and ABC Studios produce. Showrunners Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg aren't traveling far: They have the Alphabet pilot "Happy Town" in the works. "Life on Mars" stars Jason O'Mara, Gretchen Mol, Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli and Jonathan Murphy. Originally developed and shot in 2007 under David E. Kelley, the show was redeveloped and reshot after Kelley departed. Under the new showrunners, just O'Mara was kept from the original cast; it was also retooled to better reflect the U.K. original. Beyond Appelbaum, Nemec and Rosenberg, exec producers include Stephen Garrett and Jane Featherstone. Kudos Film & TV, which originated the show in the U.K., is also a producer. |
I liked the first couple of episodes but lost interest. I have five or six of them recorded on my DVR. Since it's getting greased, I don't know if I'll watch them or not.
|
That's too bad but not all that surprising. It's gotten steadily better throughout the season, but it's not a vanilla-enough concept for mainstream audiences.
|
That's too bad, it was a good show. I may check out the original BBC series for some closure.
|
that's too bad, I thought it was getting better as it went...
|
That sucks. It was getting progressively better after they started with the storylines that were not recycled from the BBC Version.
|
Its a shame.
Being old enough to remember the 70's it was fun remembering the music form that time while watching the show. I liked it so I knew it would be cancelled because I hate popular stuff (american idol, reality shows...) |
I enjoy this show from a nostalgic perspective and liken it to Journeyman to a certain degree. I must have no taste in TV shows because both have been cancelled.
I can't wait for the reality shows to end......... |
Wow what a terrible ending to a great show
|
Yeah, that was a cheap ending. I doubt that's what they had in mind when they started.
