RIP Nurse Chapel
Rest in peace, Nurse Christine Chapel, a/k/a Majel Roddenberry. Wife of Star Trek founder Gene Rodenberry, she played Nurse Chapel during the original series, as well as the voice of the computer over a number of Star Trek shows.

There were also lots of episodes where the computer went bugger-nuts for various reasons, in which cases other (normally male) voices were employed. |
Found it. A general tribute to Majel -- how fitting. Anyway, see about the 40 second mark for one example.

Claythan will be taking the day off work to mourn the loss I'm sure.

Hey Donger. As I recall, you've never seen an episode of TOS. Believe me, there's alot of crap in that series. ALOT of crap. But there are also some great episodes. One seems to be on Youtube in full. It's one that nearly everyone says is the best, or nearly so. Forgive the special effects, of course.

That's too bad. RIP :(
She was also the first officer (referred to as "Number One") in the original pilot episode with Jeffrey Hunter. And she also did the computer voice for the upcoming movie. Ironically, both her and Leonard Nimoy were both in the pilot, and they are the only ones who are involved with the new film. |
