The Chiefs competition for a GM

Detoilet
St. Louis
Jacksonville
possibly Cleveland

Ranking the most attractive job openings, Detoilet would probably be last based on the odd arrangement Ford wants to have, keeping 2 current front office people employed and creating a trio of GM's essentially.

The Lambs have an uncertain ownership situation and a lot of money tied up in Marc Bulger.

Cleveland was close to being a playoff team last year and they appear to have their QBOTF in place with Brady Quinn. Of course it isn't known yet if Savage will keep his job.

Jacksonville was a playoff team last year, but if your a new GM who wants to come in and make a lot of changes, it might be hard to do with a cash-strapped team that has a lot of money tied up in Garrard and Del Rio. Also the fact Jacksonville, with one of the lowest revenue generating teams in the league might be in serious trouble with the CBA situation in flux.

I think the Chiefs have the most to offer for a GM looking in and completely rebuild a team in his image. The Chiefs will have a ton of cap room this offseason, no major financial commitments or high draft pick commitments at QB, a head coach that can easily be fired, and potentially the #2 or #3 overall pick in the 2009 draft.

You also have to look at an organization that is completing a new administrative building, new practice facility, a renovated stadium in 2 years and a new training camp facility in 2010.

I would rank them like this.....

1. Kansas City
2. Jacksonville
3. Cleveland
4. St. Louis
5. Detroit

Cleveland is a better job than Jacksonville for a guy who wants to change things, they don't have much money tied up in vets they have some pieces and they have a rich owner and a huge cash flow generating stadium.

That is why jax job is worse than detroit unless you want to live in la in the near future. They could fold if not move if the cap disappears.

Yes, but will our new GM give us some new jerseys? That is the primary concern of most fans.

edit: I want ones with squiggly red and yellow stripes across the chest and back so we look like a condiment covered food item.... think of the advertising possibilities! Oscar Mayer Field!

Jacksonville isn't looking for a GM. They dumped the guy that gave Jerry Porter a $10M bonus and promoted Gene Smith, who was the main personnel guy for them.
