Look at the fired and soon to be fired and build a coaching staff.

With the recent firings and guys like Herm and Jim Haslett on the chopping block, try to build a great coaching staff. Remember, every fired staff has some good coaches who get axed along the HC. Choose your coaches from amongst them. You are also allowed to pick coaches from stable staffs as long as you promote them in order to sign them away.

Show me your NFL knowledge you armchair GMs.

I just want John Madden as my head coach, and Pat Summerall as my special teams coach. That is all you would need to win it all.

OK I'll bite.

Head Coach – Mike Holmgren (Sea Hawks)

Defense

Defensive Coordinator – Romeo Crennel (Browns)
Defensive Line – Rod Marineli (Lions)
Linebackers – Gunter Cunningham (Chiefs)
Defensive Backs – Eric Mangini (Jets)

Special Teams – Jim Haslett (Rams)

Offense

Offensive Coordinator – Al Saunders (Rams)
Running Backs – Jimmy Raye (Jets)
Wide Recievers - Mike Martz (49ers)
Quarterbacks – Chan Gailey (Chiefs)
TE – Terry Shea (Rams)
Offensive Line – Mike Solari (Seahawks)

Reasons

I'll take Holmgren over any of the dude who got canned any day.

On offense all 6 of these guys should jive as they all run the same type of offense.

On defense my only problem is my front 7 coaches as we will be running the 3-4. That said both Gun and Marineli have been around the block so I'm betting they can get the job done.

On special teams I like the youth and fire of Haslett.

Part of the reason I posted this thread was I WAS wondering if folks would bring up Saunders and Solari back. I would.

Martz and Gailey would never accept position coaching. And why would you want Raye back?

Hoover 12-30-2008 09:06 AM

You didn't say it was for the Chiefs, so I just put the best staff together that I could.

Look, its so unrealistic, I doubt Mangini goes from HC to DB coach but you didn't say it had to be realistic. As for Jimmy Raye, he was probably the best RB coach out there using your criteria. Let's see Raye has worked with Holmes, LJ, and Thomas Jones. None of the other RB coaches have had that much success. I just don't want him to be the OC.

My bad. I was wanting a Chiefs staff with somewhat realistic possibilities. Kind of "let's raid those other staffs for their quality coaches."
