Pioli and Mangini to Browns?
I would not be surprised to see this happen. They both started together in Cleveland and worked together in New England. I bet Mangini ends up there.
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/11207917 The Cleveland Browns have scheduled an interview Tuesday with fired New York Jets coach Eric Mangini, a person with knowledge of the meeting told the Associated Press. Mangini, dismissed Monday by the Jets after they collapsed down the stretch and missed the playoffs, will meet with Browns owner Randy Lerner in the New York area, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the interview. Lerner has also set up an interview for Wednesday with Scott Pioli, New England's vice president of player personnel, the person said. Pioli and Mangini both began their NFL careers in Cleveland under coach Bill Belichick and spent several seasons together with the Patriots. |
We won't get Pioli.

i say Mangini will end up there, but i doubt that Pioli will end up there. I really think he will end up with us.

Anyone other than me think that just because they worked together at one time doesn't necessarily mean that they got along.

The whole situation reminds me of Ty Law situation a few years back. We didn't get him when we REALLY wanted him, but we still got surtain. Then the next year we got Law after his great season with the Jets. Knowing us, we won't get Pioli this year, and the Browns will sign him to a 1 year contract, he'll have 10 ints, make the pro bowl, then we sign him and he lays an egg.
ROFL *sarcasm by the way* |
'round here it's not generally thought that Pioli and Mangini will end up in the smae place. In fact, it's generally believed to be VERY unlikely indeed. FWIW.

I'd think Pioli would be pissed he isn't being the main focus. If he's gonna move on he is going to pick who he wants to interview.
Might be a big plus for KC |

Much hype had been bestowed upon Mangini, Crennel and Weiss, I think we can disabuse with the notion that being Belichick's assistant provides you with exceptional football knowledge.
Hell, I'd rather have one of Parcells assistants -- At least Bill has a tree. From what is being reported Parcells might leave Miami. KCChiefsfansallforParcells.com That would be nice. :D |
