More shameless self promotion
Tomorrow, January 10th at 7:00 PM Central time, I am doing the ring announcing for the Omaha Golden Gloves boxing event at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs. I just found out tonight that this event will be carried FOR FREE on the internet! Check out this link:
http://www.b2cabletv.com/channels.as...channelsid=114 If it doesn't work for you just go to www.b2cabletv.com and then click on Fight TV, then click on Golden Gloves. Obviously, a high speed connection is needed. I'm pretty pumped, the promoters of the fight have connected with promoters nation wide, so this will be some great exposure for me. Hope you get a chance to check it out! This is the first of at least 3 events coming up, the next are February 13th and March 27th. WooHoo!! |

Well, that sucked...
...not the event, but for those of you who tuned in to the simulcast, you probably noticed that there was no audio, just some hip hop music. The reason was the microphones and headsets for the color commentators were out...so no live audio. Apparently, they did have the national anthem broadcasted, but after that, they just went to music. Kinda disappointing, but they'll do this again next month, so hopefully they'll have all those bugs worked out. I got lots of kudos for the public announcing, so that's always good. Just wish the broadcast would have been better. Oh well, try, try again! |
Oh yeah, funny story:
At the end of the night, the feature bout was between the 4th and 5th nationally ranked fighters in the 112 pound weight class. I got in the ring to announce the fight, and after I announced the first fighter, this guy climbs up and is standing outside the ring trying to get my attention. Turns out, he was the father of one of the fighters in the last bout, and he was pissed because his son lost...somehow he decided it was my fault. He was all hammered and was slurring his speech saying "Man, how you gonna punk my boy like that, he beat the hell outta that kid..." I was at first trying to explain that I'm just the PA guy, but then I got nervous. He was a big guy and he was pissed. I took a couple steps back and announced the next fighter. By that time, his friends were yelling at him to get the hell off of the ring, and then security showed up and escorted him out of the building. That was pretty nerve racking. Always an adventure... |
