Desire to play for Pioli vs. Carl

I have not seen this aspect addressed so.....

We all know Carl had a reputation. I have also heard from a person on here who would know, no it wasn't Claythan, that the Chiefs' front office was run like a circus as well. I think it is safe to say Carl handicapped us for getting good players for a number of reasons, one being his "I'm the king" attitude.

So, this begs the question of, will players want to come play here moreso now beacause we have someone like Piloli and the dickhead Carl is gone?

Without a doubt

The Chiefs will be more competative based on reputation alone. FA's will be WANTING to come here and play for Pioli, not run and hide when they hear thoughts of negotiating a contract with Carl.

Chiefnj2 01-14-2009 09:23 AM

Good question. I thought Thum did all the negotiating the last few years?

Amnorix 01-14-2009 10:27 AM

To be honest, you dont' see many discounts given to any team by true FAs. We got Rosevelt Covlin for less than the Arizona Cardinals were offering, but that seemed more the exception than the rule.

Pats offered as much as the Ravens for Derrick Mason, and he took the Ravens back in, errr, '05 or '06 offseason. Before we had Moss/Welker. I seem to remember his wife preferring Baltimore or somesuch.

The big thing is exactly what Reerun said -- be prepared to see fan favorites allowed to leave via FA. It's a bitter pill.

But Carl was still here...

His stench was still lingering...

actually more.
after Marty especially....
That big OL made Priest the man. and allowed Gonzo to roam more and take
the option. WR Eddie was steady.....

but the cost to get DV/Green from Lambs....
bad drafts and his hard nosed save Lamar money cost us as we didn't compete effectively or build (the Herm drafts jury out). a "C" is about it grading him out.

Thum always had to play the "good cop" to Dictator Carl's "bad cop".

Thum will not be involved in football operations so this isn't an issue.

I honestly thing Pioli/Thum will be much easier to negoiate with then a Carl/Thum duo.....

errr....?

Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, Adam Vinatieri, Asante Samuel and Deion Branch might disagree with you.

Look, I'm a big Pioli booster, but this is a business. A *tough* business.
