? for handgun guys.

Opinions of Taurus Model 617 double action, 7 shot revolver, .357 Mag, 2.25” barrel for my CCW.
Alternate Taurus Model 444 double action, 6 shot revolver, 44 Mag, 3” barrel but this is a little more gun than I’d really want for CCW.

IMO opinion Alternate Taurus Model 444 double action is ok Taurus Model 617 double action, 7 shot revolver, .357 Mag is also a gun

Best thing about Taurus is the lifetime warranty.

Check out this Taurus CCW.

And they’re running a special until the end of this month that includes free NRA membership, I assume for one year.

I would go with the 617. I didn't check the spec's but I would assume that it is lighter than the 444.

If the size of the Judge is too big then you should go with the Model 617. The 617 is only about 6 5/8" long. The 444 is about 9.8" and you can get a Judge at about 9.5" long.

I'm buying a new CCW myself next weekend. I"m getting a Ruger SR9. Can't wait.

R8RFAN 04-24-2009 12:29 PM

You can buy a more expensive gun but you won't get a better more reliable gun than a Taurus in my opinion

Good point. Hell, the difference in ammo alone probably makes the .44 about 5 lbs heavier.

Yea size is an issue. I’ve used my Colt 1991A1 for a CCW when I’m at the river fishing but it’s kind of a pain to carry and keep concealed.
That’s why I’m after a smaller revolver, for size and reliability, and I like the .357 caliber for its versatility.

My business partner just bought one of these. When he asked the gunsmith to sight it in the gunsmith said no, I don't need the pain.

Boise_Chief 04-24-2009 12:56 PM

Oh yea it's not good for CCW.
