Chiefs Waive Four Players
Jun 19, 2009, 1:30:22 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs waived LS Thomas Gafford, WR C.J. Jones, DT T.J. Jackson and LB Darrell Robertson on Friday. Gafford played in nine games as Kansas City’s long snapper in 2008, while Jackson saw duty in four games for the Chiefs a year ago.

Chiefs waive four players, opening the door to seek upgrades
The Chiefs announced Friday that four players have been waived this week. Long snapper Thomas Gafford, defensive tackle T.J. Jackson, wide receiver C.J. Jones and linebacker Darrell Robertson were let go by Kansas City.

Jackson was the only one of those four who was with the Chiefs last season. He played in nine games.

Perhaps this means the Chiefs now will seek upgrades at those positions, all four of which have been weaknesses. The moves open four roster spots, and Kansas City likely will try to address some problems as other teams begin the process of letting players go.

The Chiefs need immediate help at wide receiver, while the other positions might not be as pressing, although depth remains an issue. Robertson and Jackson didn't seem to fit into the Chiefs' new 3-4 defensive front, and Kansas City must have liked Tanner Purdum more than Gafford as the long snapper the team will take the training camp next month.

How did they NOT know Robertson wouldn't fit into the scheme? Didn't he come over from New England?

C. J. Jones was a Patriot, as well. I take that as good sign, that we actually have better players on our team, than Pioli may have thought at first.

I don't.

Not when we're talking 85 guys.

53 would be a different matter.
