Farm ponds rule
 

Got permission to hunt and fish aprox. 900acres scattered near Atchison,KS. Went to scout around saturday and found that one of the larger tracts has a pond that is about 5 or 6 acres. Fished it for 2 hours and caught no less than 20 bass, all 2lbs plus, a stringer full of huge bluegills (3/4 pound) and a few 12 to 13 inch crappie. Just had to tell . Carry on.

I don't fish much any more, but I fished a ton up until my mid-20s. We used to fish a pond similar to what you described. It was private and rarely fished. We caught tons of bass, crappie, and catfish. The catfish were especially fun to catch since they put up a hell of a fight. Good eatin', too.
