Best Buy: Confusing, but good, experience
 

So my Xbox 360 just got the RROD this afternoon. Luckily for me I purchased the product replacement plan and it was still within that time frame. So I go down there to Best Buy, he checks out the 360 and confirms that it's fucked up. So he gives me a new 360 plus a $100 in store credit card. I am very confused why they gave me that, because this is now my 3rd 360. I purchased my 1st one with the replacement plan, that broke and got a new one a year and a half ago, bought a new replacement plan then for $40 and that is what I just used today. So last time I had to spend $40 for the new plan, this time I get a new plan for free plus $60 more. I don't get it, but I like it, I'll take it. I didn't ask him why because I didn't want him to change his mind.

yes, but the last time it was down in price from when I first bought it and I still had to pay for the new replacement plan.

If someone gave me a Best Buy gift card I would sell it for ten cents on the dollar before I would walk into one of their stores.

You probably paid $399 for your last one, and $299 for your new one. They give you the money back that you paid for the system when you bought it as a gift card. Since you got a new 360, you still had $100 left over. (If that makes sense)

You've had 3 360s take a dump on you and you went back and got another one. Sounds like you need a PS3 stat.

I've heard they got a lot more reliable since they started shipping them out with the new Jasper chipsets. Microsoft still fails though.

As for a price drop, I haven't heard of one. if you want to make something out of the rumor mill though, sometime this fall the current Elite bundle will replace the Pro bundle.

the second one cost be $40, the third one cost me $40, the next one will have gained me $60 because I got that $100 reward card if it breaks within 2 years from now. That's better than buying a PS3 and re-buying all of my games.

same thing happened to me; 3 360's in 3 years.

finally bought a PS3 after the 3rd was replaced. tried selling the new 360 but I'm thinking of just keeping it as an 'extra' system since my PS3 is the primary console.
