I saw the Space Station and the Space Shuttle tonight!

They travelled across the sky tonight (separately) at about 8:14 pm. They travelled from the WSW to the ENE, so the journey literally went all the way across the sky. The total show took about 5 minutes. Pretty great moment to share with my kids.

I see them all the time, but I live out in the sticks.

Yep - it's pretty cool to see. You can find all the opportunities to see them here, just FYI:

That's cool. Wish I had known we could see it.

I saw the launch last week. I was over at a friend's for a live draft party that weekend. Around 1130PM that night, he asked if we wanted to watch the shuttle launch. I laughed, thinking it was just going to be a small blip on the horizon from where we were. (Bradenton, Florida).

We walked down to the end of the street and waited a couple of minutes. The horizon slowly glowed as if there was a nuclear sunrise. It was amazing. And then you could see the shuttle darting up into the sky- a trail of fire bubbling behind it! I couldn't believe it- we were clear on the opposite side of the state!

Needless to say- it was pretty cool. Now that I've seen what it looks like from the other side of the state, I can't wait to see it up closer.

We tried to see it one other time and failed. Tonight was just about perfect.

I take it, based on those charts, you can see them with the naked eye?

Yup.

I applaud you for this great thread. Sadly, due to lack of boobies, GoChiefs sexual encounter opportunities (yet to be foiled) and team firing/hiring, it will be in the third page very soon.

Glad you saw those things up there, not easy to do, that is awesome (seriously) and bonus points for showing your kids. :thumb:

verry intrestink

I remember sitting on the patio at my folks house years ago and my Aunts and Uncles watching Sputnick. It wasn't all that impressive to me, but in hindsight it was pretty cool. Everytime I remember to watch for the Space Station it turns cloudy.

Over the summer, I took my kids outside to watch a flyover. Surprisingly easy to see, and you can see their undergarments drying on the line hanging in the backyard.

Yeah, I saw it too.

How did it get that big dent on the rear fender?
