16 hours to sign Runyan
OK, if we sign Runyan in the next 24 hours his salary for 2009 is guaranteed. If we haven't signed him by then, I fully expect him to sign with the Eagles.
After working out for three teams, he expected some swelling in his knee but has reported no change and feels with 1 week of practice(to get his timing down) he would be ready to start. So, would you sign him NOW to avoid another team getting him ... BUT take the risk that he gets a paycheck and never contibutes... |
Do you have an inside source Austin? Your scenario makes sense. I wouldn't sign him reguardless, 35 year old coming off microfracture surgery. Did Scott Wells from Green Bay get signed?

money we got, a RT we don't. sign him.
|
It's pretty easy for me to say "sign now". It's not my money.
|
This is all based on an assumption that we haven't offered anything yet... we very well could have offered and he is the one pushing back to the last minute to get the best deal... a very distinct possibility.
|
isn't he likely to sign with the eagles regardless?
knows the team, the system, the qb, coach, plus they'll compete for post season.... |
It won't hurt our cap either way, but the only thing that matters is whether or not he can move. I just can't imagine a 36 year old man being able to recover from microfracture surgery and make a meaningful contribution to an NFL team. It's a damned tough procedure to come back from at 26, let alone with a decade tacked on.

If he can pass a physical sign him now we have the money to blow..
But, adding him willnot get us to the playoffs.. |

i mean, of course, money may be his only concern, but i can't see why he would want to play for us under any circumstance if philly is an option....we'll see |
