Where do you buy a good cut of steak?

Buy it at the Grocers? Butcher?(can't find one)

Prime or choice or select?

And what kind of cut of steak do you like? Tbone? Strip?Sirlion? Tenderloin? Ribeye?

Hey, I'll tell you what. You can get a good look at a butcher's ass by sticking your head up there. But, wouldn't you rather to take his word for it?

What? I'm failing to make the connection here.

No, I mean is, you can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher's ass...

Cut it yourself.

RustShack 11-16-2009 07:04 PM

I think you can get a good one at Hy-Vee or another store, it just depends on who cut it and when.

McGonigle's in KC.

Wohlner grocery store in Omaha, second to none

Donger 11-16-2009 07:07 PM

Believe it or not, Costco has very good steaks.

Marcellus 11-16-2009 07:11 PM

I dont know about the stores where you live but here we have a butcher who sells much better steaks than you can buy at any grocery store and the price is very competitive.

I wont buy steak at the grocery store ever again.

The best part is you can tell them what you want, say a 1" thick KC strip or whatever.

I made the great mistake of ordering a 1" thick T-bone the first time I got steaks there. It weighed about 2lbs. LMAO.

I second that. I buy the bulk and cut them to my taste and vacuum seal them. I have a buddy that owns a restaurant. He does not buy his meat there, but he does say it has great meat. Good price, good quality and you can cut it just like you like it. Rib eyes are the most flavorful imo.

Local owned butcher-shop cuts to your specs .. usually has double-grassed beef ....

RJ 11-16-2009 07:45 PM

Local market. Good quality, great service, nice people, locally owned and prices competitive with or sometimes better than the chain stores. I buy most of my meats there, it's worth an extra stop.

Mojo Jojo 11-16-2009 07:48 PM

Where are you????

In KC McGonigals or Ranchers will give you the best pure cuts. Costco does have very good meat cuts.

Sirloin is a great cut for the money.

Strange this thread comes up tonight. We just had a bone-in ribeye from McGonigle's tonight. Freaking. Delicious. Don't marinate it, don't put any super fancy rubs on it-- just salt and pepper- and if you're feeling frisky, a tad paprika.

Absolutely the best-cut meat in KC.
