RnR HOF: The one concert you must see is playing on HBO...
Wow. Watched the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary concert(s) last night. There's no way to overstate the magnificence of this concert. Filmed over two nights, this is the VERY BEST lineup I've ever seen. The playlist was astounding. It'll be running on HBO the next few weeks.
The players: Bruce Springsteen (& the E Street Band) U2 Patti Smith Crosby, Stills & Nash Mick Jagger Aretha Franklin Bruce Springsteen Bonnie Rait Jerry Lee Lewis Jackson Brown James Taylor Stevie Wonder Smokey Robinson John Legend B.B. King Sting Jeff Beck Paul Simon Art Garfunkel Dion Little Anthony & the Imperials Aretha Franklin Annie Lennox Metallica Lou Reed Ozzy Osbourne Ray Davies Black Eyed Peas Buddy Guy Billy Gibbons Sam Moore Tom Morello John Fogerty Darlene Love Billy Joel |
I saw some of this. Some of the oldsters were not so good. Jerry Lee Lewis, Aretha Franklin, Lou Reed, all struggled.
Simon & Garfunkle were pretty good. |
Out of that whole list there are only about 4 of them I would ever pay money to see.
Paul Simon James Taylor Stevie Wonder BB King |
Black Eyed Peas? Do they just come with any large event these days? Or is that a desperate attempt to get anyone under the age of 50 to watch it?
