Calling Rain Man v. Career Day
How many times in the last decade have we given up a career day to an opposing offensive or special teams player? Is there a place to look that up, or do you just have these sorts of things on file?
|
I'm not Rain Man, but I can tell you that he typically uses http://www.pro-football-reference.com. Unfortunately, I don't know any real simple way to pull that particular type of stat out of there.

Here's a teaser of what I could glean direct from the (outdated as of 2008) PFR database. Here are the best rushing performances against the Chiefs since 1996.
Code:
Year First Last opp rushYD |
DaFace is correct in that it'd be hard to do. The best estimate I can come up with at the moment is 24 opposing starters x 16 games per year x 10 years, or about 3,840 career days given up.
There are a few Ryan Leaf starts, of course, but that's probably offset by playoff games. |
I can't do 2009, but here are all of the games where the opposing rusher had over 100 yards, and their total yards were the highest in their career (since 1996).
Code:
Year First Last opp rushYD |
Those DV years playing in Denver made me wanna puke.
|
Also, Portis had 5 TDs in one game vs. the Chiefs.

your software knowledge has always been superior. I don't know chit about it, honestly. |
Here's "record" passing days against the Chiefs (for people with more than 100 yards):
Code:
Year First Last opp passYD |
And finally, record receiving days against the Chiefs (more than 100 yards):
Code:
Year First Last opp recYD |
K. That was mildly interesting. Good night.
|
Drew Bennett. Wow, I don't remember that one at all.
