Crennel is gonna cost Clark some cash...

At that end of our post announcing Charlie Weis' hire in Kansas City, we mentioned that the next logical step would be hiring Romeo Crennel.

That move may be on its way.

A few prominent NFL voices believe Crennel could indeed by joining Todd Haley's staff. ESPN's Adam Schefter writes, "It's likely to be a New England reunion: Now that Charlie Weis has agreed to work in Kansas City, Romeo Crennel will not be far behind."

Mark Maske of the Washington Post writes: "Romeo Crennel could be next as defensive coordinator [In Kansas City]."

The Chiefs will have competition for Crennel's services, though. Crennel's agent said this week his client would also be interested in the Giants job. Crennel is currently on vacation, and won't be back until Monday.

Michael Smith of ESPN threw out other possibilities on Twitter, like perhaps Buffalo or Miami.

The moral of the story: If the Chiefs want Crennel, they may have to fight for him.

hired guns dont come cheap.

meh ... Chiefs should look for other 3-4 defensive guys as options.

Crennel isn't the only fish in the sea ... he's not some uber coach.

But he's a proven DC. there is nobody better than him right now available. I say go for it....we've done worse right?

big deal; cry me a river Clark. Your family hasn't won sh*t in 40 years.

you just got a massive stadium rennovation courtesty of the tax payers under the impression the Cheifs might consider leaving KC....and go where? No other city would put up with your cheap ass for 40 years.

open up th pocket book, and actually make an attempt to win a SB.

At the end of the day, I think Romeo is the D coordinator in KC.

If it comes down to a money issue, I forsee Clark ponying up what it takes to get pen to paper.

**** that roly poly muther****er with the ufo defense. I am hoping that Dallas lays another egg and that Wade gets the boot and flies all the way to KC to coordinate these kids. With Wade, Dorsey would excell and we would be much better from the word go.

Wade>Crennel

Phillips and Weis as OC and DC?

Give us a good draft and three starters from free agency (I know, they will be old) and we could be a much improved squad.

I love it that he is on vacation till after wild card weekend is over...maybe that is a sign that we have an eye on Wade Phillips and its not just my fantasy!

Wade is not going to be leaving Dallas. I don't know why all of you are going nuts over him when he's not going to be available. Jones loves him, the players love him, he's got his team going in the right direction.

i believe "on vacation" is probably just code for "no comment"

crennel doesn't want to be bothered by answering questions.

No doubt his agent is, but it's still BS. Romeo knows this week is when head coaches get fired. I'm sure he's just holding out for a HC offer. Come Monday he better figure out what he wants to do.
