Ultimate Madden

Anyone download this yet? Pretty fun.

I dislike the contract thing with the player cards. If you got the player, you should keep him? I got Harrison from the special deals on the PS3 and he's racked up tons of yards online for me against defenses. (Jamaal Charles and Derrick Johnson will be released cards soon, which I thought was cool.)

I got a contract card and added it to Harrison, but he only has four games left, which is stupid.

Overall, pretty fun. Especially since players are forced to BUILD a team rather than go and select the Patriots, Saints, Colts, etc.

I'm guessing you haven't heard. I just discovered this today when I turned on my PS3.

Your being given football cards of players. All players are consisted of backups. The only Chiefs player I have is CB Mike Richardson. At the start, you are given a free set of cards. I also got former Chiefs, Michael Bennett (pretty damn good against backups) and Jordan Black.

No one will receive a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Jared Allen, Brett Favre, or Randy Moss type of card at the beginning. You are also given an offensive and defensive playbook, along with a home stadium, away and home jerseys and a head coach (I was unfortunate enough to get Tom Cable, but the 49ers playbook has been good for me.)

Once you have the football cards you have to win games. If you play online against other real players and win and perform well, you'll get lots of coins, depending on how well you do.

You can use the coins to buy a set of cards. You can also spend them on "special offers." The first special offer release is Jerome Harrison for his monster game VS KC. I had enough coins to buy him (his rating on Ultimate Madden is a 98) with a high speed. Since most teams have crappy players on defense, I was able to rush for over 400 yards with Harrison recently against another Ultimate Madden team. There are only 162 cards of Harrison remaining on the PS3 version. Jamaal Charles will be the next "special offer" card for his performance vs Denver. His card is worth 1000 coins. Derrick Johnson will be a week after Charles for his week 17 MVP performance (which is what the description says for DJ.) A week after DJ, Brian Cushing comes out for his DROY. After him, it's Percy Harvin for his OROY.

Pretty fun overall. Like I said earlier, I just hate the contracts.

Yeah, I'm lost too. What the hell is "Ultimate Madden"?

Do you only get coins for winning games against online opponents?

Does the game cost anything to start?

Buck 01-07-2010 03:52 PM

They did the same thing with FIFA 09 I remember.

You'll get a couple hundred if you win. Thanks for Harrison, I haven't lost. You can play online or against the CPU. But if you defeat the CPU on the easiest level, you will not receive as much points. The more points you win by, the more coins you will receive after a win. I won my most recent game by 45 points. Giving me 400+ coins.

The game does not cost anything to get started, but if you want to improve your team ASAP, you can spend real money.

I just discovered you can sell your cards. I searched to see if any Chiefs were available. Tons of people are selling their Todd Haley cards. LJ (who is still considered a Chief) has been on sale by a lot of people. Other players can bid on the cards. I saw an LJ card go for 1000 coins. Even though LJ's speed sucks on the game, he'll dominate against most teams right now since everyone has a defense that consists of backups. I played one person early who had Maurice Leggett and Andy Studebaker on his team.

When you play against the computer.....are you playing against actual NFL teams or are they backups like a real player would have?

You will play against real teams. Ex. The Chiefs will have Cassel/Charles/Chambers, etc. But for some reason, Dwayne Bowe and Leonard Pope are both 82...

On a side note, I hate how you are given a separate home, separate away, and a separate home stadium. I just played against someone who had a Chiefs home jersey and his home stadium was the Raiders.

Same for the coaching--If I have Tom Cable, let me have the Raiders offensive/defensive playbook.

I was really surprised I didn't see a thread on this. I'm curious to know what other people think of the contracts. I can only play Jerome Harrison for only four more games. My backups all have an eight game contract left. I bought a new set of cards and those players have 12 game contracts. Pretty stupid. I never knew the previous Madden games had this feature, so I'm new to this.

Farzin 01-07-2010 04:10 PM

Also, you won't have a lot of players early on to fill up 53 players. Some of my offensive players came in to play defensive back. Michael Bennett even got me an interception. But as I got more coins, I got another set of cards, giving me more defensive players.

The Franchise 01-07-2010 04:58 PM

How many cards do you get to start off?

How many cards come in a "pack" and how many coins does each pack cost?

DBOSHO 01-07-2010 05:12 PM

This sounds fun but where do you get it? Is it an add on for madden? And is it only on ps3?

DBOSHO 01-07-2010 05:18 PM

Nm found it
