NFL Work Stoppage, what do you think?
In another thread, it looks like the NFL and the NFLPA are headed for a showdown that could lead to a shortened or cancelled season?
How would you react (choose one in each section)? I'd support the owners locking out the players in the dispute I'd support the players if the owners locked them out in the dispute I'd support the owners using replacement players again I'd oppose the owners using replacement players again I'd stop supporting the league if we lost part of the season to work stoppage I'd continue supporting the league if we lost part of the season to work stoppage I'd stop supporting the league if they cancelled an entire season I'd continue supporting the league if they cancelled an entire season I'd stop supporting the league if the owners gave up the salary cap I'd continue supporting the league if the owners gave up the salary cap |
Poll?

I'm hoping for a replacement player and replacement coaches/GMs so that all of the wannabe Planet QB's and GM's can get a chance to showcase their talents.

Unless they do drastic things to change the sport, I am always going to love it. I think the players should take a pay cut. Notably rookies and players with little tenure. Cassel who started one season should not be able to make that much money. I also believe that rookie salaries contribute to teams staying bad. 1 bad pick with all the money a top 5 is worth can really set your team back. I think if they make a maximum of 2-3 mil a year for rookies it would do wonders to even out the playing field. Then after 3 years they are able to renegotiate at a higher rate depending on performance.

I wouldn't support any of them. I'm not taking the billionaires over the millionaires or vice versa. Fix it, or **** you. Figure it out.

And keep the salary cap. It's bad enough as it is. We don't need the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox of the NFL, and then a bunch of small-market teams that can't afford players. |
I know the issues are far more complex than this but I have a difficult time supporting either side in a situation like this. Players are a group of people (even vet minimum guy's)who make more in a year than the majority of Planeteers do in several.(310K in 2009, 325K in 2010 are the mins.) Most of them have had the opportunity to get an education free of charge and somehow it's not enough.
As for the owners, they make enough just on merchandising to pay for an entire salary cap so what are they bitching about? |
A work stopage will do nothing but help the fans. The shit is way over priced.

As far as I know the players only want a few more percent of the total take, so that shouldn't be a big deal. I am sure they won't have a problem with taking away some of that bonus money given to unproven drafted players.
I think the biggest problem is some of the owners want a bigger piece of the pie. The fight will be between the owners, then the players. |
Who's right a bunch of millionaire football players wanting more money to risk life and limb, or a bunch of BILLIONAIRE owners trying to make a buck?
BTW I'm a conservative republican |
They would never let it come to that. They saw what a strike did to MLB. They're only just now fully recovering from that.
