Lions "might make a place" for Dorsey

http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf...ons_rooki.html

Phil: I've heard on more than one occasion that the Lions should swing a deal for DT Glenn Dorsey. I haven't heard much from him in Kansas City, what has he done? What could his trade value be and why would the Chiefs trade him since they spent a 2008 1st round pick on him?
Tom Kowalski: Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham was on the Chiefs' staff when Kansas City drafted him and Cunningham really likes the kid. The reason he might be available is because the Chiefs drafted Dorsey as a 4-3 defensive tackle and they've now switched schemes and he's playing a 3-4 end. Neither the Chiefs nor Dorsey is apparently happy with the results and that's why I think the Lions might make a play for him in the off-season. I still think it's a longshot, but it's a shot worth taking.
As for trade value, I'm not sure what he'd cost. I think you might see something a little creative, like swapping of picks in a round or two, as opposed to a straight-up one-for-one deal. We'll see if this heats up as we get closer to the draft.

EDIT: I meant "might make a play" but don't know how to change the subject.

Calvin Johnson for Glenn Dorsey would be fine by me

CaliforniaChief 01-20-2010 03:12 PM

Give us Calvin Johnson and I'd think about it.

CaliforniaChief 01-20-2010 03:12 PM

Wow SNR.....crazy minds think alike.

A 2nd this year and a 2nd next year.

A "swapping of picks in a round"?

The Lions draft 2nd and we draft 5th. No amount of "swapping picks in a round" is going to be enough.

Bugeater 01-20-2010 03:14 PM

Detroit's entire 2010 draft.

Agreed!

Then we would have to take Carlos Dunlap and man that would piss some people off here. Unless someone expects Alex Mcgee to be something special.

hmm.. well, if Tom Kowalski says it's so... then bank on it.

Dunlap would have been great...if we'd stayed in a 43.

Carlos Dunlap isn't even a 5-tech.

Exactly, he has had two years of NFL experience. That is worth way more than the 5th overall pick the Chiefs gave for him.

If they trade this kid for a discount, it will be epic stupid. He is getting better with each game.

Cannibal 01-20-2010 03:21 PM

You don't trade "once in a generation" players.

WildTurkey 01-20-2010 03:28 PM

We'll take Matthew Stafford or Calvin Johnson that works for me :D
