Frickin Mono

I just found out I had it today. Anybody have any experiences with this wonderful virus? How often should I expect to be tired? When should I get a new tooth brush?

Knew a girl who was out 2 months of high school with it.

Sounds like an exaggeration, though.

There's always a con to french kissing hookers :)

Honestly, it took me more than a year to fully recover. Sometimes I'm not sure I ever really did. I had it pretty bad though and was a very active athlete at the time, so I had a different measuring stick for 'fully recovered'.

Heh, Lumpy and I have both had it. A few words of warning:
1. Don't let them give you anything from the penicillin family. The virus reacts badly to it.
2. Keep sherbet handy for your throat. Not ice cream.
3. Look forward to the weight loss. I lost almost 20 lbs. In 3 weeks.
4. Try to stay cool. Mono has been known to sterilize men. Well, then again in your case, go put on a parka.

(J/K). ;)

It's Epstein-Barr. You're screwed.

(Then again, apparently most of us have it, so we're all screwed.)

I've never had that.Oh shit now I'm doomed!:cuss:

The last three people I knew that had mono all died from it.

But good luck.

one time I thought i had mono but it turned out i was just really bored.

I've had both forms of mono.

Get that prescription throat soothing slurry thing if your throat hurts.

The far back of my mouth was so swollen, I had a hard time swallowing and was bleeding a lot. The slurry made it easier, and coworkers thought it was badass when I was constantly spitting blood.

I slept about 18 hours a day for at least a week. Lost weight and muscle and it took a while to really get back to where I was before getting sick.

In college I had mono and strep at the same time. My throat had cool white colored stripes down it. It didn't really affect me much other than I had a super sore throat on one side and I got tired easy so I had to take a nap every day at 3-ish. I must have a really strong immune system or everyone else is super whiney or something because this mono thing (and strep) seemed really weak and overrated to me. It didn't really keep me down at all. I think the doctor gave me a z pack to clear up the strep and that's it. Mono is no big deal.

I had mono a couple years ago. Thought I was just sick for a while, really bad headaches mostly, then found out I had it.

Honestly it was the best sickness I ever had. I got tired, but everyone knew I had mono so they sympathized and made life easy for me, even doing Xmas shopping for me. I got a free pass out of work for a month, and could have gotten out longer if I wanted. I was tired, but not really sick, so could still go roaming around during the day.
