Old Country Death Band?
 
Evidently they're from Lawrence. They're playing with one of our local groups for their CD release party here tonight (I"m actually traveling, so I won't be going).

Anyway, the band they're playing with is Cletus Got Shot. They should be touring this region quite a bit in the coming months. Check them out if you get a chance.

I clicked into thread, almost sweating with anticipation, hoping this would be about a band that fuses country and death metal. Alas.

I know. I'm not sure what the Old Country Death Band is like. Cletus Got Shot is pretty much punk (more in attitude and aesthetic than actual music) and bluegrass.
