If you were an EMMY voter, what would be your nominations?

You - Planet member, person with keen taste in the Television medium, what shows and actors would you nominate if you were an Emmy voter this year?

My personal ballot would be as follows, winners in boldface:

Breaking Bad
Mad Men
Treme
Lost
Sons of Anarchy
Friday Night Lights

Community
Modern Family
Parks & Recreation
Glee
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Party Down

Lead Actor, Drama:
Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad)
John Hamm (Mad Men)
Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights)
Hugh Laurie (House)
Terry O'Quinn (Lost) (He was Lost's lead for its sixth season, and I give leeway for ensemble shows to nominate whoever)

Lead Actress, Drama:
January Jones (Mad Men)
Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad)
Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy)
Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights)
Melissa Leo (Treme)

Supporting Actor, Drama:

Josh Holloway (Lost)
Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad)
Dean Norris (Breaking Bad)

Supporting Actress, Drama:
Yunjin Kim (Lost)
Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men)
Khandi Alexander (Treme)
Christina Hendricks (Mad Men)
Beth Reisgraf (Leverage)

Yes. Though I'm basing my nominations off of a body of work throughout a whole season.

I don't watch enough TV to be able to really do this. I do, however, think O'Quinn deserves the award for Lead Actor - Drama. That guy just kills in S6.

kcxiv 06-29-2010 02:40 PM

Think i would give Breaking bad mostly everything, for comedy it would have to be Modern Family easy (great show)

Red Brooklyn 06-29-2010 02:44 PM

And the guy who plays the fat gay character on Modern Family is a KSU Theatre Alum.

So... I'll root for any success that show can grab.

Bruce Campbell for best supporting actor: drama.

Can the same actor be nominated twice for different episodes?

Only for different roles/different shows. A role can only be nominated in one category. One episode per role.

Abstaining for having not seen most of them.

Supporting Actor, Drama:
Michael Emerson (Lost)
Josh Holloway (Lost)
Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad)
Dean Norris (Breaking Bad)
Chelcie Ross (Mad Men) (or if he only counts as "guest actor," then Andre Braugher from "Men of a Certain Age")

Haven't seen enough but Toni Collette gets my blind vote for playing so many roles.

Supporting Actor, Comedy:
Aziz Ansari (Parks & Recreation)
Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation)
Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family)
Dany Pudi (Community)
Donald Glover (Community)

Need to watch Parks and Rec. Community doesn't have a strong enough one and I love Modern Family, especially Cam.

Supporting Actress, Comedy:

Alison Brie (Community)
Jane Lynch (Glee)
Julie Bowen (Modern Family)
Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Recreation)
Jenna Fischer (The Office)

Another one I haven't seen enough to defintitively say. Jane Lynch will win but Julie Bowen is pretty good. Only one I wouldn't give it to is Jenna Fischer.

.

You know those aren't the actual nominations, right? Those are my personal nominations. If you have some different nominations I'd love to see them.

Buck 06-29-2010 08:15 PM

I know those are your personal choices, but I doubt Yunjin Kim even gets nominated.

Brock 06-29-2010 08:18 PM

Good, except for the unwarranted P & R bias.

I know she won't. Emmy voters are ****ing dumb. The Wire, the best drama ever made, received exactly zero Emmy awards.

Since I know for a fact that you didn't watch season 2: watch season 2 and then get back to me.
