ARLINGTON -- The Rangers-Indians game was delayed 16 minutes in the bottom of the fifth inning when a male fan fell from the second-deck club level and into the lower bowl at the Ballpark in Arlington on Tuesday night. The fan flipped over the railing before landing on his back in section 35, which is roughly a 30-foot drop. He was conscious and able to move all of his extremities. After being stabilized, he was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He was sitting in the front row of section 235 and was reaching for a foul that had sailed over his head and caromed back toward the field. According to a witness, the man turned his back to the field, reached over his head for the foul ball and lost his balance. Four other fans were treated for minor injuries related to the fall, but none was taken to the hospital. After the foul ball, which came off the bat of Nelson Cruz, a hush fell over the ballpark as Indians players took a knee and Rangers players sat silent from the dugout. That's when crew chief umpire Tim Tschida halted the game. |
Wow... Video?
|
If I have Nelson Cruz on my fantasy roster, do I get any points for that?

Nice try there fan. Get well soon.

Did he get the ball?

The only video they showed was the normal center field cam where you see all the fans behind home plate stand up horrified. The home plate ump put his hands on his head and turned away.

I'm AMAZED it doesn't happen more often. I mean, when you see drunk people flying down the stairs in the upper decks.....

GoChiefs? Oh Man... get well soon, bro

It's Darwin-Award-nominees like this who ruin it for the rest of us. Like the idiots who keep falling off cruise ships, and now my view is ruined 'cause the ships have to put ****ing glass barriers and netting all over the place. Now the railings in that ballpark will be right in your frigging line of sight, to keep future idiots from falling over.
I miss the days of my youth, when kids and adults used bicycles and motorcycles without helmets, and rode in the station wagon at full speed with the tailgate down and the backwards-facing backseat full of kids with their legs hanging out of the car, and God let the Law of Natural Selection do the work for him. |

There was a guy who died a few years ago at a Braves game after falling from the Upper Deck....it was alot farther though than this guy. |

And, additionally, youre blaming this future rule change on a guy who had an accident, and was almost a victim of said "natural selection", which apparently only occurred when you were a kid? ...ok... |
