With the 9th Pick in tonights FF draft, Hoover should pick...

I'm in a 12 team, head to head league. Everything is standard and we start 3 wr's. I have the 9th pick in a snake draft. I hate not knowing what to do.

I assume Chris Johnson, AP, MJD, Turner, Rice, and Gore are gone.

What would you do? RB, WR, or QB

I've done a number of mocks, and the talent drops after the 3rd round, so I need to make my first three picks count.

Any advice?

All the RBs that are left will be part of a RBBC and there are tons to be had so your first 2 picks at 9 and 12 IMHO should be QB and WR.

Top QB I would imagine.. unless a top flight WR is still available

If those RB's are all gone, then take Andre Johnson or Randy Moss. You'll want a stud WR because you have to start 3 each week.

Hoover 08-29-2010 02:53 PM

Yeah I was thinking down those lines. I think I'd grab Andre Johnson if he is there at 9, then take either Manning, Brees, or Roders if one of them slip to me in the 2nd.

Sorry, just re-read you are in a 12 team league so its more like 9 and 16. I'd try to get Andre Johnson at 9 and best QB available at 16

Either Andre Johnson or Randy Moss if either are available. Especially in a 3 WR league.

Consider that both of them get 1200+ yards every year (AJ got 1500 last year) and close to double digit TDs (Moss got 12 last year, and since he's been healthy this year there's no reason why he can't get 15+ this year). I don't know of any other receivers that will put up that kind of production (maybe Miles Austin).

Andre Johnson will not be there at 9... he hasn't made it past pick 7 in most things that I have seen, esp PPR leagues.

I think you go WR, unless a Turner or SJax fall to you... then again, I still think I go WR in R1. I'm a big fan of WR/WR this year - esp PPR leagues, you can get nice RB options in R3-6.

MMM, who are the R-3 to R-6 RBs to target?

Chiefaholic 08-29-2010 03:02 PM

Lance Long

I think you're looking at guys like...

Grant, Charles (don't freak, it's happened a lot), Greene, Benson, McCoy, Stewart, Thomas, Addai, Best, R Bush, Brown, Foster, Forte, Moreno, F Jones, Wells, Spiller...

There is a lot of talent out there in those rounds. Depends on what you like, I would target most of those - but I don't like Felix, Moreno, Bush... Moreno could do well, but he's been dinged up, so in fantasy - I avoid that stuff early.

Has nice ADP information, you can sort by # of teams and whether it is PPR/Flex or not...

It should give you a comfort zone of what to expect.

My answer to these questions are ALWAYS Aaron Rodgers.

Hoover 08-29-2010 03:09 PM

I'd be pumped if I could grab a guy like Charles, Grant, or Green with those picks.

I'm really leaning towards the WR/WR with whee I draft. The talent poll on WR's is shallow. I also like to find my QB in the middle rounds. Hell I'd be happy with going onto the season with a guy like Kolb to be honest.

Yeah, if the league rewards wild ass QB scoring then Rodgers would be tempting...

But, I think you can go WR/WR/RB and then either take a guy like Rivers in R4 and RB in R5 or vice versa. Greene and Grant have gone in R3 in nearly every draft I have been in this year...
