The Kansas City Chiefs contract extension to linebacker Andy Studebaker is for three years, per NFLPA records.

Studebaker was entering the final year of his contract in 2010.

He was due $470,000 in base salaries for 2010 but that is now $1.3 million so not a bad bump in pay.

He'll make just under $4.5 million the following three years topping out at just over $2 million in 2013.

There could be bonuses and things like that included but I've got no information on that.
So...not a bad week for the Wheaton product, huh?

I sure hope he un-seats Vrabel from the starting LOLB position.

Old man Vrabel is just too ****in slow anymore.

pretty sure this is Vrabel's last year for any team

i sure wouldn't mind him sticking around to help coach though

he is slow as **** and still helps the defense

Damn, hope the kids agent asked for some escalators in that deal.

One things is for sure though, this shows they look at him as a starter and were willing to make a commitment to him in that role.

But I gotta ask...why couldnt this just be in the other two "Studebaker has signed an extension" threads?

That can't be.

The world ends in 2012.

i didn't see the other extension threads bumped and this is about the specifics of the contract not the news of the extension.

btw if the old thread was bumped i might not see it due to certain iggy issues.

sorry

More proof that Clark Hunt is cheap.

I hope we draft Von Miller in 2011, move Hali over to LOLB and have Studebaker as our #3 option/special teams guy for a long time.

I understand that he's the Chiefs Planet new Boomer Grigsby, but this team needs a full on speed rusher at ROLB. Stud nor Hali are that guy. Miller has the best first step I've seen since DT and you can't find a skill like that later in the draft.

Having Studebaker as the #3 guy would be ideal though.

That's the money you give a rotational player. I think they view this as a low-risk, high reward type deal for the Chiefs, but I don't think they are counting on him being a 10-12 sack guy, either.

The great white hype!!!!!

milkman 09-17-2010 05:00 PM

Why didn't Scott Pioli get him signed through 2014, damn it?

talastan 09-17-2010 05:03 PM

I keep hearing this "Keep Vrabel as a coach" talk. Would he even consider coaching, and if so why this team?
