Chiefs go 2-2 the rest of the way and not make the playoffs?

There are a lot of scenarios that can play out here. Can we win the rest of our Home games and split our 2 away games? Potentially san diego could beat us then we could go to St. Louis and lay an egg and lose forcing us to win out to have a chance to go 10-6 and maybe have a chance to make the playoffs but perhaps would not get in due to tie-breakers. A lot of potential for heartache for Chiefs fans.

After a ugly win yesterday it will be interesting how we show up in San Diego given we have an opportunity to put a dagger in them and finish them off once and for all.

The season is far from over. Despite winning 8 games at this point of the season and doing better than most expected on this board will losing our next 4 games be more devastating than anything we experienced the last 2 seasons where we never were in the the playoff conversation? Can fans be satisfied with a 8-8 record and still feel this was a successful year?

To me we have to go at least 2-2 from here on out for this to be a successful season. I wouldn't have said this at the beginning of the season, but reaching this milestone and then going 1-3 or 0-4 the rest of the way would be just awful to this Chiefs fan.

riveting take

If we go 2-2 over the next four games, and miss the POs, I will be very disappointed, but still view this season a resounding success.

We'll finish 11-5 and AFC West Champs:thumb:

Chiefs controll their own destiny and have the luxury of being able to lose at SD and still make it to the playoffs. If we don't get in at this point we don't deserve to.

If we win next week, we might just sweep the rest of the games and end up 12-4.

Yes, my expectations were much lower entering the seasons.

But much like the Indy and Houston games, the Chiefs are in contention to the very end. They've done some impressive things, and have a great chance at playing more football games in January. Previous expectations, therefore, go out the window at this point.

I would view a 2-2 finish plus missing the playoffs as a failure. It was a failure when we had the Colts on the ropes and our offense pooped their shorts, and it was a failure when our defense stifled the Texans all game until 28 points in the 4th quarter.

This season, therefore, which saw improvements to the team that none of us saw coming... would be viewed as a failure.

You're an idiot.

So going 10-6 is a failure? After a 2-14 and 4-12 the last 2 seasons I can't agree with you. Definitely going 1-3 or 0-4 the rest of the way would be a failure.

I hope they make the playoffs, but this might be one of those be careful what you wish for moments because I think KC will get beaten pretty soundly if NE, Pitt or Balt comes to KC in the postseason.

A two-game lead with 4 games left against .500 or worse teams the rest of the way. And we manage to lose the division?

Failure.

It would still be great experience for a young core of players. They’d get a taste of the “playoff speed” that the talking heads are always harping about.

And once you are in the dance, who knows. The Jets had a pretty young team that squeaked in last year – they made some damage and came into this season as a powerhouse.

I like our chances against either Shitsburgh or Baltimore at Arrowhead.

I'd rather Baltimore. Fatassrapeher is hard to bring down, and our "close but no cigar" pass rush would probably bounce off him like flies on a lamp shade in a dim room.
