Awesome! Great thread. I've told this story before but this is the game my Mom and I watched every year. The man who raised her after a rough childhood was a Navy man. She married my Dad who was a Marine.
I miss her every day, but especially on this day as it was a day where we both sat together and cheered on the NAVY mdshipmen. I have a kid in the ARMY now so I'm pretty sure Mom would understand that I'll be cheering for ARMY today. No offense Fraz! |
Army's got an improved team this year - all the service academies actually got bowls this year, which is pretty cool.

I was raised a Army brat, served in the Army and my nephew is currently in the Army Special Forces. I don't realistically expect an Army win today but I can hope and this year is probably the best chance they have had for a few years now. My father in-law is a old Navy sea hag and it would be really nice for a change to not have to take the ribbing he so enjoys giving me after a Navy victory.

Fumble on the 2nd play for ARMY followed by a NAVY recovery. NAVY promptly fumbles it right back to ARMY on their 1st play from scrimmage.
|
And that commercial with the Armies from around the world shouting "GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY was pretty cool.
|
Nice pass and run!
|
Crap, I jhad those fumbles backwards.
|
The two programs may not be what they once were, but for my money this is the greatest sports tradition we have in our country.
I always get choked up with pride seeing that stadium full of cadets, midshipmen, and vets taking a break for a few hours from the very serious business they have so honorably committed themselves to. Go Army, Beat Navy! |
Djay: :thumbs up:
