She says they've stolen his confidence and may end up isolating her autistic son even more than he is now.

Jennifer Zdenek, the mother of an 11-year-old boy who lives with autism, is outraged at Microsoft Xbox Live for labeling her son a "cheater" and taking away everything he's earned online.

She says her son, Julias Jackson, is so good at playing X-Box games, Xbox LIVE thought he cheated.

She says her son got online last week to play Xbox LIVE and saw that he was labeled a cheater and had zero "achievements."

Zdenek says her boy masters games in three to four days.

She told her son it would be ok and called and emailed Microsoft to resolve the issue. What she got was an address for the legal department and three emails stating in similar terms:

"The only actions that we take are to correct the player's current Gamerscore, and to label the player as a "cheater." This label can be observed on Xbox.com and through the player's view of their Gamercard on a console or computer that is connected to Xbox LIVE. The player can still legitimately gain future achievements. The player's experience does not change in any other way."

She says her Xbox LIVE has served as some of her son's only interaction outside of school and has devastated him. She argues her son did not cheat in any way, and earned his "achievements" solely from his hard work and hours logged online.

"It disgusts me that they did this to my child," Zdenek said.

Q13 FOX made efforts to reach Microsoft but received no response.

Zdenek says she may cancel her son's subscription at the beginning of next month if Microsoft continues to ignore her requests to take "cheater" off of his account.

If she takes her complaints more public than they already are, i guarantee they'll resolve it ASAP.

I confirmed that achievements were illegitimately modified on the account and contacted the customer directly w/ specifics

We confirmed there were cheated achievements and gave the parent the details. This wasnt a "he played too good" situation at all.
That said, it's a matter of meaningless space points. Give them back under the condition of making him clean his fingernails and controller.

How do you illegitimately modify achievements?

This is when Xbox Live comes out and says "On Jan 3rd, 2011 you earned 315 achievements offline. Some of which are only achievable when playing online."

ReynardMuldrake 01-27-2011 11:22 AM

How do they know he wasn't cheating? Because his mom said so?
