Gruden camp: Cam Newton
i think Gruden is going to drop to his knees and actually give Newton a blowjob on national t.v.
:shake: |
From a pure physical attributes and arm, Cam does have it all, but that is only 1/3 of the equation. I just don't think he has the head or personality to succeed in the NFL.
Can he grasp NFL terminology and take control of a huddle? He hasn't had to deal with either yet and he is still a LONG ways from being ready for those two. Then does his huge ego and off the field issues say much for him? Will he rub his teammates wrong with that ego and feeling everyone can't touch him personally? To close the NFL players he will be facing are another level of talent and speed he hasn't had to deal with yet. Some of those runs he did at Auburn won't work with the NFL speed. Also DC's in the NFL are probably licking their chops to confuse him defensive scheme wise. |

he essentially ran a ****ing grade school offense at auburn, and that shit don't fly in the nfl. I can see him flaming out very quickly.
|
He could be a beast in the NFL if he has three things.
1. A GM or a HC that isn't going to throw him into the fire in the first year. Cam needs a year to sit....learn the offense and get used to the speed of the NFL. 2. A competent QB coach that can work with him one on one. Cam is athletic as hell....but I think he'd be better off going in the bottom of the 1st round to a team where he can sit for a little while and learn. |
Unfortunately pest it isn't gonna happen some early team is gonna fall in love with the athleticism and choose him and rush him out there. I really see this guy as a bust. As I stated Dalton and kapernecki are the two I'm interested to see in the coming years.

He did the same thing in the booth to any QB that played during the games he called. "I like this Jamarcus Russel"
|
It was particularly weak when he let Newton off the hook about changing a play call at the goal line.
He touched on it but then didn't blast him for doing something that speaks to Newtons possible arrogant attitude issues. Gruden should of press him about why Newton thought it was ok to basically overrule the Head Coach and not even tell all his offensive guys. |

I watched this show with Gabbard last night. Gruden has to be one of the most annoying coaches ever. The way he interacts with the players is borderline creepy. Watching film with him, Gruden was like, "Oh yeah. You like that, don't ya? You like to see that. Oh yeah. Yeah. Come on. Don't be shy. Tell me you like it."
Weird. |
JOHN GRUDEN IS BI-CURIOUS
|
I would be scared that he is a guy like Vince young or Russell that has dominated just based on athleticism his whole life and would essentially need to learn the QB position anew. I wouldn't spend a high pick on a QB like that. It's hard to think of those kinds of QBs who worked out at the top of the draft without being decent passers already
|
Gruden said some pretty stupid shit on there. He blasted Gabbert for being slow in his drops, comparing it to a stretch play that Manning ran. There's no way he doesn't know that you need to be faster with a handoff on a stretch, where you need to beat the D to the outside, than you do in a five or seven step drop, where if you hit your drop too soon the receivers aren't even going to be close to out of their breaks.

A quarterback who is not confident is not a quarterback at all. That concept causes some coaches revert to extreme ego coddling. I remember talking to David Yost (Mizzou's qb coach at the time) when I was at Missouri football camp for my senior year in HS. He was over-complimentary of every part of my game... it was annoying because I knew exactly what he was doing. The other qb's at the camp were eating it up, though. |
Cam Newton came across as a complete mongoloid in this interview. And people are even criticizing his clothes.
