Chiefs forced to spend $20 million to meet new salary floor?
So it appears from most reports that the agreed upon 2011 salary cap will be $120 million with the salary floor constituting AT LEAST (and this could be increased) 90% of the salary cap (about $108 million)
Most reports had the Chiefs payroll last season near $90 million. This means that the Chiefs will be forced to spend about $20 million just to meet the salary floor. Clark's Chiefs will be FORCED to pursue an aggressive approach in free agency. |

The Bucs have nearly 50 million to spend. A shock to the owners system.

I thought I heard someone around here say Matt cassel needed a raise.

They can sign our own free agents and/or restructure deals to push money up front to raise our cap number this year. don't expect the chiefs to do any more in free agency then they have been. |
chiefs are at 83 bud not 90

Expect to see the Chiefs free agents to see front loaded deal like Cassel got.

We are finally building the team the right way and people are bitching about it. Geez spending money on free agents generally does not work. Lock our own guys up first.

It is a weak FA class, however there are a few really good FA's that can be had for decent money.

It's all too easy to front load contracts or rearrange things via accounting to get to where you need to be. Think about it, if it wasn't then EVERY team would be going crazy in FA to make the floor. That won't happen.

I expect the Chiefs to make 1 big signing.
As much as I'd hate it, Franklin will likely be pursued. I'm hoping they go after Tyson Clabo from Atlanta to be the RT. A line of Albert, Asamaoah, Hudson, Lilja and Clabo for the years to come would be awesome. |
That does sound like a damn decent line if you have confidence in Albert.
Clabo definitely my number 1. I don't necessarily want franklin, but I'd be thrilled with the signing. It means Pioli is trying to compete this year. |
