Texas is burning

And getting a little too close for comfort. Just got this photo from the front steps on the shop. Out of nowhere, Red River Army Depot is on fire.

Pic in next post.

That fire that was buring in Noble OK the other day was 6 miles straight north of the house...

Thankfully for us, we had a south wind...

I haven't seen rain since I don't know when. And it's been so hot that 95 feels cool. Everything is so dry that it's not good at all.

Th old neighborhood where I used to live in Magnolia was surrounded by fires, many subdivisions around it burned to the ground, I still had friends there updating me throughout the night, but it seems as if the danger has passed now.

You just wrote a country song.

Best of luck senator.

My parents in Wichita Falls haven't seen ANY rain in 4 months. The lawn has just turned to dirt. It looks like winter out there because ALL of the grass is completely brown. The trees are dying and the leaves are falling off. There aren't even any green weeds in the fields.

Over here in Fort Worth things are better. Rain has just avoided that part of the state this year.

It really DOES feel cool. This little cool streak over the last few days has been amazing!

I was reading in the oklahoman the other day and they say that OKlahoma could go on record this year as the warmest state in the history of the US.

Meaning that that average day would be warmer for 365 days than any other state in recorded history...

Pretty strange that Oklahoma set a state low of -32 in Northeastern and a high of 115 in Southwest this year...

Some places is western OK havent seen rain since the first of August 2010...

I think someone should pray for rain. That's sure to work.

Bob Dole already needs to rake leaves...

In all honesty, it's amazing that the wildfires held off as long as they did. It's been a tinderbox here for months.

The sad part is that they are reporting that a lot of the fires have been determined to be intentionally set. (Not sure how you determine that, but that's the reports.)

I took a trip to New Mexico to visit family this weekend.

Weather: Low of 45, high of 75. It was amazing.

Our local official rainfall total from 6/1-8/31 was 1.83". With daily temps at or above 100 for that period, it's just been insane.
