Pullin the trigger on the sunday ticket
Gonna call and get the ticket. What's the key to getting the best deal? Threaten to cancel my service? Renew my contract?
|
Tell 'em they call you Guido on the job.
|
I just checked my sunday ticket and I have a cash icon next to the Chiefs game after I set it to record.
Does that mean my sunday ticket isn't activated? Because I paid for that shit. :spock: |
Do you already have DirecTV? If so, this may sound weird, but I'd bet you could get a better deal if you added it, then tried to immediately cancel it. Retention is where the good deals come from - not sales. So, add the service. Give it a day, then call back and tell them that your finances have changed or something like that. Otherwise, I don't think sales will do much for you.

I've had direct tv for 3 or 4 years now.

APPARENTLY sunday ticket is free tomorrow

I got mine for 159.99 this year. I've had them for 3 years and the first year I paid full price ($320 or whatever), the year after that I got it for $179.99, and this year I got it for $159.99.
All I ever do is just call them and tell them to cancel the auto-renew (it does every year) on Sunday Ticket for me this year. Just tell 'em money's tight and they offer the discount every time. Since it's your first time getting the service, just call and ask to speak to the Sunday Ticket department. When they answer, tell them you're interested in it and ask them how much it is. When they tell you, just tell em it's too much. They should offer a discount. This year, they offered me a discount ($180) and all I had to say was "is that as low as you can go?" and he knocked it down to $159.99. Good luck! |
Call them, say you're getting better offers elsewhere, and that you see they are giving ticket away to existing customers and you don't think that's fair.
When you call, and they prompt you, just say cancel service on the automated system. That'll get you to the retention dept. |
It really depends how willing they will be on how well you pay your bill, how often you buy PPV's and shit, length of service, etc.
You can probably get a special price if you're willing to try calling multiple times. |

We received a call a few weeks ago from Direct TV for a special they were running where our price per month went down about $30 and we received Sunday Ticket and all the premium channels for the next 6 months. At the end of 6 months we have the option of keeping everything at a price of about $25 more than our current rate or simply going back to things as they were at the same price. I took them up on their generosity with the intention of going back to our old plan in 6 months. I don't have time to watch that television. Sorry but I don't know what the plan was called. If I find out I will post again. |

Frack. this is the first year I am paying full price. I always do the calling and complaining and they always knock it down. I think this year I am more lazy than I am cheap.

well after 3 failed attempts at getting a deal I finally got one. I was nice every time asking why everyone else gets a deal except me. I even told them I have the PS3 and considering the subscribing to ticket on that as well as all my options at getting a cheaper rate before I make my decision. Well the 4th rep finally with no hesitation gave me the PS3 ticket for free, knocked off the to go package, and $10 off of ticket every month. So I'm only paying $44 a month for ticket with every option to watch it. It was a great phone call.
