Clash of the Sitcoms: Round 1, Heat 9.

Got a lot of different comedic styles in this heat.

Tough group to rank, but here's my thinking:

1. 30 Rock. Clever writing, pleasantly bizarre, and I like live actors more than animation.

2. Archer. I've only seen two episodes, but thought it was hilarious. I probably shouldn't rank it this high, but I will.

3. Family Guy. Hit or miss, but it's generally pretty good. Sometimes their highly repetitious jokes start grating on me, but I like the Conway Twitty segments.

Didn't make the cut:

4. Gomer Pyle, USMC. I liked this show as a child, but don't know that I would watch it now. It's kind of weird, and not in a good way.

5. Mr. Ed. This show was before my time. I saw a few episodes as a little kid, and even then I thought, "Wow, low production values".

Family Guy is hilarious. 30 is well written & funny, but I got sick of it almost immediately for some reason.

Weak heat.

Anybody who votes for anything other than Archer should have course sand ground in their empty little eye sockets.

30 Rock is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite shows.

Gomer Pyle is the only one of these I've watched extensively. It was funny when I was a kid, but it fails my WWGUpD (What Would GrownUp patteeu Do) test.

I've seen a dozen or so episodes of 30 Rock, which is enough to make me think it's an outstanding show so it got my only vote this round.

Family Guy has it's moments, but it has just never dragged me in (and my wife hates it so I had to make a choice between the two).

I never saw Mr. Ed, but I'm not a big talking animal guy.

I've never even heard of Archer.

The last two episodes of Family Guy have been hilarious. Other than that, this season has been pretty underwhelming

Jesus Christ - there's no way that you folks have actually seen Archer if it only has 7 votes.

Nobody, absolutely nobody, that's ever seen both Archer and Mr. Ed would put Mr. Ed in ahead of Archer.

It's brilliant.

IMO it's the best TV comedy of all time. Nothing on this list is even close.

So you're saying I need to give Archer a watch?

Interesting. I fully expected Family Guy to be blowing every other show out of the water.
