Fisher to sign $35M deal
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/S...ar-deal-011712 The St. Louis Rams are set to make Jeff Fisher the NFL's second-highest paid coach, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday. Fisher, who chose the Rams over the Miami Dolphins Friday, will sign a five-year contract worth about $35 million before his formal introduction at a 2:00pm ET news conference Tuesday. His yearly salary of about $7 million is second only to Bill Belichick's $7.5 million, and tied with the Redskins' Mike Shanahan. The 53-year-old, who did not coach this season after 17 years with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, will only be given the title of head coach. However, he reportedly will be involved in the ongoing search for a general manager, and is expected to have significant input on personnel decisions. According to the NFL Network, Gregg Williams will leave the Saints to become Fisher's defensive coordinator, while Brian Schottenheimer, formerly of the Jets, is the leading contender to become the Rams' offensive coordinator. Williams' contract was up in New Orleans, and just last week he had referred to Fisher as his "best friend in coaching." Fisher is also expected to interview former Raiders head coach Hue Jackson for the offensive coordinator job, according to ESPN. |

I really don't get this. The guy had 17 years of stability, a #1 draft pick QB who wasn't a bust (McNair), and he didn't bring home a Lombardi. In 17 years the odds are that any average coach will make it to at least one Super Bowl just by random luck, and that's what he did. Way to shoot towards average, St. Louis.

That's a lot of ficking money for mediocrity.

$875,000 a win
in a good year |
7m a year for Jeff Fisher, or 5m a year for Scott Pioli.
I know who I want. |
That's a lot for 8 wins a year.

Wow, that averages $1,000,000 to $800,000 per win. Congrats St. Louis.

Said it several times: Fisher should be judged on what he did during his career with McNair and nothing else. He would have won at least one Super Bowl if he hadn't run into 1. The Greatest Offense Ever and 2. The Greatest Defense Ever. |

B. RAC didn't have 17 years under a single franchise with 2 1st rd pick qbs. |
I guarantee you the Rams win a playoff game before the Chiefs do.
Then you'll all be laughing at Fisher I'm sure. |
