Anyone with connections for LTL shipments??

It looks like I'm going to need approximately 4 pallets hauled from Crowley, LA 70526 to Lamoni, IA 50140. Anyone have any connections that can get me a good deal or know of a cost-effective approach? I've never used LTL services before.

FedEx? I'm not a expert and we use FedEx exclusively for shipping. I've often seen their trucks on our dock with a giant LTL painted on the side.

Can't you just contact a broker or carrier to schedule this?

Are you just "some dude", or are you a business/shipper?

The little research I've done shows UPS and FedEx are quite a bit higher than trucking companies. I'm just hoping someone has some connections that can give me a good rate and/or someone I can trust.

Believe it or not you can find it on Craigslist or Ebay

Everyone is going to be higher if you're a one-and-done. It's amazing the discount the company I work for gets from FedEx. It's depressing when I have to ship something FedEx or UPS personally.

Fedex and Ups are LTL Trucking companies

FEDEX Freight (Formally American Freightways/Viking Freight & Watkins)
UPS Freight (Formally Overnite)

I'm just some dude with a business. I have contacted a couple trucking companies and they're higher than hell (I understand fuel costs are high). If I've got to pay the high rates I may as well pay it to a friend or family member of someone here.

Shoot me a pm with what exactly you need moved and a phone number.

Thanks. It is 4 pallets of automotive specialty tools and I'm guessing the weight to be around 500-600 per pallet.

Can someone here pay for the merchandise if it gets lost, stolen or damaged?

Not every company is going to let Joe Blow on their property with a Uhaul to deliver freight
