Texas Death-Row Inmate Shouts "Go Cowboys!" During Execution

Texas Death-Row Inmate Shouts "Go Cowboys!" During Execution Jesse Joe Hernandez was convicted of beating a 10-month-old boy to death back in 2001. He also beat the boy's four-year-old sister, who managed to survive. Because the crimes happened in Dallas, which happens to be in Texas, which happens to be ranked No. 1 in the nation in the application of capital punishment, Hernandez was sentenced to death by lethal injection. This is how the AP recounted his final moments last night:

"God bless everybody. Continue to walk with God," the 47-year-old Hernandez said. Moments later, he shouted "Go Cowboys!" in honor of his favorite football team.

As the drugs took effect, the condemned man repeated his appreciation for those he knew who had gathered to witness the execution. "Love y'all, man," Hernandez said. "... Thank you. I can feel it, taste it. It's not bad."

Now if we could only get the other ten million of them to take a lethal injection.....

Officials expressed surprise since it was implicitly assumed that he was a Raiders fan.

I'd be cool with that. I'll have some difficulty getting Mom to buy in though, because my two brothers are part of that ten million.
