The worst tackler among KC DBs wasn't Sabby...

It's Kendrick Lewis! ROFL

Today we’re moving away from the line of scrimmage and looking at how defensive backs have fared over the same time span. We have combined cornerbacks and safeties to look at them together in this one study, and the qualifying cutoff is the same 1,200 snaps that it was for the linebackers. This eliminates all rookies from the study.

Tackling efficiency is a simple ratio of missed tackles to number of attempts: Solo tackles + Assists + Misses / Missed Tackles = TE.

Notice 3 Chiefs on this... Or ex-Chiefs

ShowtimeSBMVP 07-10-2012 12:34 PM

Playing with a hurt Shoulder will do that.

pr_capone 07-10-2012 12:35 PM

the fact that we have 3 players on that list makes me ill

mcaj22 07-10-2012 12:35 PM

i said this exact thing without that chart last season just by watching the games and I got ****ing crapped on in this place.

if you go back in watch the dude takes bad angles and he has a very low motor, he stops trying a lot, and that attributes to many missed opportunities.

Lewis will be fine once Berry gets back on the field.

The fact that we had 3 of the top 15 and two of them aren't here anymore says a lot. The difference for Lewis and the other two is he can actually cover someone.

I know Lewis isn't the surest tackler, but I'm curious if his 2010 numbers were better/worse/the same

I'm not going postal just yet. He was injured and playing alongside dog poop last season. Plus he's only entering his 3rd year in the league. He has yet to reach his true potential as an NFL safety.

8 missed tackles in 802 snaps in 2010.

12 missed tackles in 987 snaps in 2011.

Clearly, another one of Pioli's players who is "developing."

He did have 3 missed tackles in his very first game.

KCrockaholic 07-10-2012 12:54 PM

I didn't realize he was already 26. Hm.

I wanted us to draft Brandon Taylor and Jerron McMillian not only because I perceived a weakness behind our starters, but also because I thought Lewis needed a swift kick in the backside. I figured our GM who values "competition" would have made a wise pick like that in the draft.

Instead we have another "tweener". But at least he's one of the surest tacklers at defensive back in the draft.
