Kansas City QB talks about Moeaki, Stanzi

The Kansas City Chiefs have become one of the preferred landing spots for Iowa Hawkeyes who make their way to the NFL ranks. This year, the Chiefs will have at least two, possibly four ex-Hawks on their roster. One is tight end Tony Moeaki, who missed all of last season with an injury.

Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel says he’s looking forward to having Moeaki back because he is a great competition and has worked hard to come back. Cassel says that the Chiefs plan to utilize their tight ends a lot more in the coming season. He says the tight end is an important position across the league and Moeaki can block and catch the ball and that makes him an important part of the offense.

Former Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi will also be back with the Chiefs for his second NFL season. Cassel says he’s already seen a lot of improvement from Stanzi this offseason. “I think it was a great offseason for him, he had a great spring,” Cassel says. He says all the rookies were hurt last year by not having offseason workouts.

Parkersburg native and fellow Hawkeye Casey Wiegmann has been snapping the ball to Cassel the past two seasons, but has said that 2011 was his last year in the NFL. Cassel says he hopes Wiegmann has a change of heart.

Cassel is himself coming off of an injury. He was forced to miss the last seven games of the season after injuring his throwing hand.

“I think it was a great offseason for him, he had a great spring" = "I know he can't touch my job"

Is that a swipe at Hudson or is he just dumb about all things football?

"It's hard to not like Matt Cassel"

God, what a dumbass

Stanzi only has long hair because his ears stick out so far.

I hope to God that Cassel plays well.

Does anyone else think this reads like it was written by a fifth grader? I mean, not to be a dick, but it just reads like a kid's book report.

When we want your opinion we'll beat it out of you, Matt.

Why is it worded that way? Because Moeaki can throw the ball as well as Cassel can?

Cassel likes to read about himself because Cassel likes Cassel.

It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.
