The folks at FOX have developed a tradition of providing game picks via a comedian. This year, they’re providing a new comedian to provide the game picks.

Frank Caliendo announced earlier this month that he has left FOX after nine years. During halftime of Sunday’s 49ers-Broncos game, FOX announced that Rob Riggle will take Caliendo’s place.

Riggle, 42, is a veteran of shows like Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show. He has appeared in numerous films, and he hosted the ESPY Awards in July.

He also is an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Riggle debuts on September 9.

Maybe for his first segment he’ll impersonate Caliendo impersonating John Madden.

Good. Caliendo was ****ing atrocious. Just never, ever funny.

I still probably won't tune in to the Fox pre-game. I stick with CBS.

I went to church with Rob as a kid.

Pretty sure they got this wrong. He retired from the reserves this year if I remember correctly. (as a Lieutenant Colonel)

Good. Caliendo was just a one trick pony. His impersonations are good but it wears thin after awhile.

I never watch FOX really. I'm always watching CBS because, well, we're in the AFC lol. Even when we're playing an NFC team and the game is on FOX they don't really talk about us as much as CBS does.

If you listen to Jay Mohers podcast where he interviews Riggle he talks all about his career. Really cool guy representing Johnson County.

You get kinda stuck with it if you go to a bar to watch games. I have to usually get there an hour to an hour and a half before kickoff to get a decent seat. They are usually playing the local feed over the PA when I get there and I am sick of hearing Frank's pics, so this is a plus for me. Riggle probably follows the Chiefs more than the other broadcasters so I want to see his takes on the Chiefs games.

He's done this several times, Maron, Pardo, Hardwick, Sklars. Due to his long form style of interviewing, Kevin Pollack probably went into the most depth.

No such thing as a "retired" Marine.

Our long national nightmare is over.

Chiefs Pantalones 08-26-2012 05:45 PM

Riggle is a Chiefs fan but he does do some PR things for the Redskins like he does for us. People shouldn't get mad at him for that...he is a celebrity first after all. He's not like us. He's into making money and doesn't care how.

Setsuna 08-26-2012 05:48 PM

He did very well at the ESPYs. I think out of all the hosts they have had, he was the best.
