With four subpar games under his belt, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel is catching heat for the team's ugly 1-3 start.

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported the fourth-year starter is "losing confidence from players and many others in the organization." If Kansas City had someone more intriguing than Brady Quinn at the No. 2 spot, Cassel would be destined for the bench, according to Cole.

<table align="right" width="305px"> <tbody> <tr> <td>

</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> "Look, there's a big reason why they went after Peyton Manning as hard as they did this offseason," Cole was told by a source with knowledge of team president Scott Pioli's thinking. "What you're seeing from Cassel is pretty much what was expected. He's a really nice backup, not a starter."

Cassel has struggled with just five touchdowns against seven interceptions. His 70.4 quarterback rating exceeds only that of Mark Sanchez, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden and Jay Cutler.

Chants for Quinn and third-string sensation Ricky Stanzi bubbled up at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday during the Chiefs' 37-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers, but a switch at quarterback would require Pioli to admit defeat after years of insisting Cassel, his personal pick under center, had the goods. Cassel's 19-24 record has frustrated fans, as have his struggles against some of the league's weaker defenses this season. Cassel littered the field with three interceptions in Sunday's loss, but Romeo isn't budging.

"I could have taken (running back Jamaal) Charles out because of his struggles and his problems, but he's also the one who can run for a touchdown," Crennel said. "(Those are) some of the decisions a head coach has to make and you have to go with your gut feeling, and what you know about your team and then move forward with it."

What Crennel also knows about his team is that inserting Quinn into the starting role won't solve a larger problem in Kansas City. With young talent on both sides of the ball, the Chiefs were an enticing pick in the AFC West before the season. Finding out you don't have a quarterback, however, tugs the entire operation back to square one.

RAC compares Charles to Cassel.

GTFO.

How did you not know it was Q? LMAO

To be fair, he probably wouldn't have posted it had you not added your own spin/cut of the article.

Yus, beat your edit.

I lost faith in Matt Cassel after the playoff ass-raping against Baltimore. I wasn't very high on him before that either. Last season...I was SURE would be his last. Now I'm just done. **** this team until he's gone.

RAC is a pussy
I have lost all respect

I expected to see something about team mates losing faith in Cassel by the thread title. I am sure they have, but it is not in this article.

I remain convinced that Bowe is sick of him, but I am not aware of any words reflecting it.

I saw the defense on the bench in the 4th quarter, yucking it up sort of. I thought they must be chatting about Cassel...but who knows.

Not that I want him to stick with Cassel but at this moment he has to at least PRETEND to be behind Cassel or all team confidence will be lost.

Head coaches can't be wishy-washy, even when they are wrong....I think Romeo wants to put Quinn in as well but God forbid it turns into Tyler Palko the Sequel-that would be a mitigated disaster!

Like they give a ****... They get paid if they lose 100-0 or win 100-0

Look at this guy, believing that this isn't Pioli trying to throw Crennel under the bus.

Sofa King 10-01-2012 02:44 PM

Of course he's losing the locker room. The guy is a piece of shit. It would truly suck to be one of his wide receivers.

htismaqe 10-01-2012 02:46 PM

ROFL

Pioli throwing old Romeo under the bus. His shame knows no bounds.
