Romeo says Quinn might get some game snaps

Brady Quinn poised for more Kansas City Chiefs snaps By Gregg Rosenthal Around The League editor Published: Oct. 1, 2012 at 08:07 p.m. Updated: Oct. 1, 2012 at 09:28 p.m. Teammates of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel reportedly are losing confidence in him following another rocky outing in Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers. The coaching staff might not be far behind. Coach Romeo Crennel admitted Monday that Brady Quinn could pick up some first-team snaps in practice this week. Crennel broached the idea of benching Cassel at some point, even if only for a drive. "You pull him out, put somebody else in, let him settle down and maybe he goes back in," Crennel said. "As a coach, you get a feeling about whether he's making good decisions, poor decisions ... those kind of things all kind of play into it." Cassel has 10 turnovers on the season, so he has made a lot of poor decisions. Cassel is not the type of playmaker, like Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who can make up for many mistakes. "At some point, as a coach, you go through and you see what's happening in the game and how a guy is reacting and how he's responding to what's happening in the game," Crennel said. "If you feel he's inept, constantly making poor decisions, bad choices, then that's when you move on from him and give someone else a chance." The Chiefs' home crowd chanted for No. 3 quarterback Ricky Stanzi on Sunday. Crennel can only hope that's the low point of the season. We aren't likely to see Stanzi anytime soon, but it sounds like we're another bad Cassel performance away to getting the Brady Quinn experience. Follow Gregg Rosenthal on Twitter @greggrosenthal. |
To those who were there: Were there really Stanzi chants?

I still believe in Stanzi, but I've always thought his ceiling is Tony Romo.
He will get his shot this year, but not until there are only 3 or 4 games left and all is lost. Hopefully, he doesn't **** up our draft position. Kid got a raw deal in ps. |
Tony Romo sucks.

This might be as good a place as any to mention this ... but I had the misfortune of listening to Roleo's presser today and noticed that he mentioned something unusually interesting during the give-and-take over Cassel's inability to remove a cork from his own ass.
The stuff in the OP was, of course, part of the conversation. But at one point, Gretz started asking about the over-throws and Roleo said something along the lines of, "... you know sometimes a guy will look good in 7 on 7 practice when there isn't a pass rush, you know, but you know when there's a pass rush in the game, you know, the guy might not throw as accurately ... you know ..." It seems to be an admission that Roleo, at least, is aware that Cassel is A) Inaccurate much of the time, and B) Folds under pressure. It only took him about 10 games to figure that out, but hey ... it's progress. FAX |

The one thing worse than leaving Cassel in:
Taking him out and putting him back in. |

We're close to seeing Quinn. Cassel has never looked comfortable or like he has confidence but he looks downright depressed out there. He doesn't believe in himself. Be happy my fellow Chiefs fans, because Cassel's days as starting QB for our Chiefs are numbered...finally. Better late than never, but it's about to end.
